The case of the dissapering Rage BH.

Ivan Baker was hiding in the brush dressed in a ghilie suit. While you were tendiing to your turkey, in a stealth like move, the 280lb Ivan snatched your broadhead to wound more deer with this fall. You really should have known.

The limping turkey prolly got a glimpse of your big fat fingers and impaled himself on the rage hoping for a quick death. As you walked closer the enormity of your fingers overwhelmed the poor bird and rather than be strangeled by five polish sausages he did back flips until the rage was free and headed for the hills. Next time keep your hands in your pockets (if they fit) when approaching live game.

Ok all you dectives, help me out here and tell me im probably wrong/crazy
On the the 29th here in Indiana i was able to take my turkey with a Rage broadhead. The shot was half in and half out when the turkey scooted to the wood line edge. He had four buddys start kicking his kiester. He managed to drag himself in the woods about another 15yards before expiring while his buddys were relentless. As i entered the woods to collect my prize i basically had to run the other birds off. The arrow was now laying about 10 yards from the bird -minus- the $Rage$ broadhead [>:]I noticed when one of the other birds was running off it was hobbling somewhat. I did not think much about it at the time but after using a metal detector and scouring the forest floor witch is only pine needles i have came up with nothing. My question to you, is it possable that while jumping all over this bird that one had impaled himself somewhat, and managed to somehow take my broad head with it?
(call me crazy, [8D]well dont, but ya know)
Damit these things are $39.00 for three and i want it back jack!!
WHAT HAPPENED PEOPLE??

And Dan, you are most definitely the first person that I've ever heard of using a metal detector to find a broadhead.

Not a stupid question..Becuase depending on which way the arrow was, and whether or not it was point down or there was alot of brush on the side of the head, it is likely that in his "travels" the head become unscrewed while bumping up against objects.
This is going to sound like a strange question, but as the turkey was running off, which way was the broadhead sticking out of the bird... his left or his right?

Droptine,
I never said it was a "stupid" question... just a strange one.

You're right, though. That's what I was thinking when I asked the question. If the broadhead was sticking out of the left side of the turkey as it ran away and the blades weren't closed, it could have easily come unscrewed.

If you can afford a metal detector, a Rage BH shouldn't break the bank.
I lost a Rage 2 blade attached to an Axis FMJ back in November. Shot this big buck near sundown. He went about 50 yards, with the arrow sticking out of him about 1/3 of the way, and expired. We got out of there and came back about 1/2 hour later - loaded up the deer and couldn't find the arrow. My buddy had to get home for a family deal so we left; and I'm debating on whether it's worth the gas to go back up there next week and find that arrow. It's one of those dangling participles that kind of sticks in your craw.
