I have never had to, but I probably wouldn't accept a job if it didn't offer decent vacation. My time in the summer with Lisa (she's a teacher) and my time hunting is too important to me.
With that said, I have on several occasions timed up the gap between new and old jobs with a hunting season. One time I managed to get the first full week of bow season off between jobs, (and then went for another full week in November), and then between my last and current jobs I timed it up with the first full week of spring turkey season.

I haven't turned down a job because of hunting, but I have left a job to find a new one that afforded better hunting opportunities and it does have a bearing on the jobs I look for. For example, I have turned away interviews in the city for 6 figure positions because well they are in the city. The extra tax, commuting costs,and inability to hunt isn't worth it.
I always like it when I go to an office for an interview and see a nice stand of woods in the back.

Man I love my job. 12 vacation days a year. 10 sick days a year. 8 paid holidays a year. 10 days paid during Christmas & New Years. Total of 40 paid days off. The 10 for Christmas really offers a chance at a long late season hunt. And the 12 vacation days will increase to 15 after July!

Probably not. I don't get much time off in the hunting season as a teacher. I get up to 5 personal days per year, and 10 "sick" days. I used zero of each this year (my first year so I'm trying to make an impression). I get ALL of the fishing time I want in the summer, lol, but I would rather have the hunting time off....BUT having ~12-13 weeks of vacation a year is a hard prospect to walk away from just because most of those weeks don't fall during hunting season. I still get out every evening during the week I want, and would rather hunt the evenings anyways.

Probably not. I don't get much time off in the hunting season as a teacher. I get up to 5 personal days per year, and 10 "sick" days. My old job only allowed 2 weeks a year even after fifteen years! My present job started with 21 days a yearthen after five years I went to 29 days. Also no weekends. I've neverbeen able to hunt so much before. Life is good.

What are you talking about? Teaching is a great job to have if your a hunter. You get a week for Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas, a week for Spring break-Easter (turkey hunting), you have time to hunt after work on many days until the time changes, and like you said, you have the whole summer to fish and get ready for bow season. Your sick-presonal days roll over, so in a few years, you can take off extra days to go hunting. We don't have anything in season over our Thanksgiving break except the first day of rifle season (hey, I'm not complaining). We usually don't get a spring break, and our PA gobbler season always opens after easter, so that's a no go either. My sick-days do rollover, personal days only roll over for one year then they have to be used or they reset.But you're right, in a few more years, I will be "sick" more during archery season

I have been very fortunate with my jobs and my time off and loose schedule.

Well, for the last 24 years, neither was really an option for me.
I hear ya. I start a new job Monday and St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. I start withthree weeks paid vacation, 8 paid holidays plus 2 paid "personal holidays" and nine sick days per year.To make things better, I just found out yesterday how much they're offering me. Let's just say I'm definitely not disappointed. I love the way things always seem to work out.
