Before I was self employed it always played a big part in weather I would take the job. If they offered good vacation most likely I would take the job even if it meant not getting to take much time off the first year. Sometimes a person has got to be at a job a few years before the vacation gets good.

I have been self employed most of my life so for me it's not an issue. I really enjoy my hunting. I would quit a job that would not allow me to hunt. It may sound strange to some people. I'll bet if you go to an old folks home and ask them about their regrets none of them will say"I wish I would have worked more".
A lot of them would say "I wish I would have done more of the things I enjoy"
I don't want to have regrets later in life.

I recently just accepted a new position and I get 1 week after a year! Then after 3 years of service I get 2 weeks till 8 years then I get 3 weeks vacation. I recently turned a job down where I would of had 2 weeks to start but then had to go 10 years for 3 years. I will be on 3rd shift which is a good shift for hunting so it does not bother me to much!

That don't sound so bad. I guess it al boils down to how much time off you want to hunt and how well you get along with the big shot, maybe you can get more time off then you thought if you and the big chief get along real well!!

I will never do that again! That is the reason I left my last job! I started taking the manager hunting and he started to expect it all the time and when I would not take him he was a real dick tome at work! So I quit. I will take what I get and hunt around work never again will I let anyone come between my job and hunting!

Probably not. I don't get much time off in the hunting season as a teacher. I get up to 5 personal days per year, and 10 "sick" days. I used zero of each this year (my first year so I'm trying to make an impression). I get ALL of the fishing time I want in the summer, lol, but I would rather have the hunting time off....BUT having ~12-13 weeks of vacation a year is a hard prospect to walk away from just because most of those weeks don't fall during hunting season. I still get out every evening during the week I want, and would rather hunt the evenings anyways.

I STAYED at a horrible job because it started me out at 18 days vacation, flex time, no weekends and after only 7-8 years I was over 4 weeks vacation. (22 days)

Eventually even the perks of time off couldn't overcome the rest of the mental torture inflicted by that job.
