I also started bow hunting on my own back in the days of the recurve. I did this because in my state gun season for deer was only 1 week and bow season was 3 1/2 months long. Now gun season is 2 weeks and bow season is 4 1/2 months.

My dad is responsible for getting me started.
He wasn't the greatest hunter but he took me whenever he could. Grandad also took me out a bit. I had to learn most of what I know about bowhunting myself though as Dad gave it up after just a few years back in the early 70's. I will never be able to thank them enough for getting me started though!

Hunting was a way of life growing up with ten kids in Alaska and my Mom Stayed home. So all of our meat was from the ocean, rivers and woods. Just grew up doing it. Archery is a new thing due to the Old Guy AK Nimrod and another friend.

I got myself involved in it and fell in love with it from the first time I drew my bow back.
