I used to shoot a Martins Bow and today I bought a new Mathews Ultra 2. And when i was shooting it I seemed to be grouping a lot better. When I shoot my Martins I cant group very good at all. Is it all in my head or does the Bow really make the Shooter

Well, I really dont think that the bow makes the shooter. However, I do think you are shooting better groups because the bow might fit you better and is more comfortable.

Some bows will shoot better than others, for various reasons, but a bow won`t take you very far! You gotta get there on your own.

It's a head game, when ever ive seen someone get a new bow they generally shoot better because of the positive attitude towards the equipment, if the positive attitude stays around even when the shooting goes south for a little while, that is the real test.

The bow itself does nothing!!!!!!The person shooting it does.
As 55# stated just about any new item purchased will make you shoot better for a short period of time because you have 100% confidence in it.
Some bows will shoot better for some people than others: Example....Early last year I purchased a Merlin MAX 2000 a bow that got rave reviews from some top notch shooters.This bow looked and felt fabulous,I tried for 5 solid months to get on to this bow and couldn't!!!!!! I just could not shoot it!!!I have a very close friend who has the same bow and shoots fantastic with it,he could also shoot great with mine.
Also the person who now owns my bow wouldn't trade it for the world.
Just goes to show you that it's not the bow it's the person shooting it.

A well tuned bow makes the shooter..... if he knows what he's doing.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> Some bows just fit people better. What works for you I might hate. People just don't realize how much draw length, weight and a grip can effect their shooting. 1/4 inch difference in draw length or 5 less pounds can really make a put you in or out of the sweet spot. A bow shooting at the top end of it's adjustment range seems better to me than one set on the low end. Compounds are complicated and touchy. The average shooter(like me) lives with mediocracy and &quot;Almost&quot; fits and adjustments. I have a couple different shotguns. One is a vintage cream puff Model 12, French Walnut, vented rib and all the goodies. It was given to me when my uncle died. He was long and it came with an extra long stock. I wanted it cut so took it to a professional. He measured me and remeasured and then whacked my precious gun. I threw it to my shoulder the other day(probably the first time in 5 years). Bamm... it hit perfect and I'm looking at two beads dead in line. I did it again and again. I came up perfect everytime with my cheek settled into the stock without trying. I grabbed my Remington 742 and 760. They both fell short of what I had experienced with the custom fitted Model 12. I tried my Browning... same thing. My point...(besides talking too long) the bow can make a difference, but your difference might hurt me.

When I was a little kid, I remember testing out my new sneakers, which I always thought made me run faster.<img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle> I just got a new HavocTec. It has a higher brace height than my old bow, and less vibration and recoil. It still only shoots as well as I do. I think it is part mental, part equipment. The percentages probably depend on the shooter.

I use to shoot a Baby G..it made me a better shooter......! Very unforgiving bow, made me concetrate more and improve my form. Then I got a Thunderbolt and it fit me a lot better, I love it.

The first bow I owned was a 1993 model Pearson Spoiler it had a deflexed riser wich made for a long brace height. I could work wonders with that bow I used it until two seasons ago (it was worn out). I struggled for the last two years, didnt really shoot poorly just not up to my expectations. Built a new bow in Dec. definatly the best quality bow I have ever owned and Im back on my game why? I dont know exactly but the one factor I will look at the most from now on is an easy to shoot, forgiving bow. Hopfully the one I just put together will last the rest of my hunting career.......hill

Yes and no. A properly set-up bow will do wonders for your shooting accuracy. The main factor being the proper draw length, if this is wrong, you will never be consistant in proper form period!! So to answer your question, even if the bow is new, if it's not properly set-up for you, you won't notice an improvement at all in my opinion. And yes, some bows are just more accurate than others. Brace height is another factor to contend with here as well. I agree, a brand new bow will lift your spirits!! <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
