Big Country, if little Weaver plans on shooting a giraffe with his bow he had better up his poundage. The skin alone on a giraffe is 1" thick. Killing one with an arrow is a far cry from killing one with a gun. A broadside shot is likely NOT going to do it. Take the time to look over the skeletal system on a giraffe. The ribs are huge, and they will cover the majority of the vitals. Your best option for a vital shot is a frontal shot, from about 10' feet off the ground.

Dang, PT... that's what I've been thinking for the past 10 pages or so. I just wasn't going to say anything. This thread does have that feel to it, doesn't it? "No right or wrong answer here".....

If 5 or 6 guys can crunch around the woods in white pants and sneak with in bow range of an animal I wouldnt want to hunt it.

Like I said, I didn't see the show discussed. If those giraffes were that oblivious to the hunters (or seemingly so), then the show did a real disservice to hunting. No different than a recent Nugent show that I watched wherehesimplyjust walked up to a couple different fawns inhis HF area and shot them. Should I assumethen, after watchingthat nonsense that it is pure sillinessfor anyone to shoot adeer? After all, any animal that is just gonna stand thereinwide open woods and watch a hunter and cameraman walkup to them and let them shoot them surely isn't worthy of hunting, right?
