All my current stand are around 16 ft. But I'm going to try to go at least 20 ft this year.

I also always wear a safety harness. I don't want to be crippled[:o].

That's been 15 years or soago, and although he finally got where he can get around on his own. It definitely changed his life. I admire the way he never gave up and fought to get better against everything the doctors told him.

He still Bowhunts!!

Guys themain thing is always be safe!!!

I would not go any higher then what would go beyond the limits of what my body is able to take from the fall. I do not go any higher the 20 feet. 18 feet is plenty of height that will not spook the deer.

Be safe.
Don't believe your body can absorb an 18' fall, because it might not. My Brother in Law fell 18' and broke his back,Terrible accident. I was the one who found him, and was there when he was Life Flighted out. If you don't believe in a safety harness that experience would have convinced you.

they are lifesavers for sure. ive always used one. when i was younger (dumber)i got in the 40' territory if the tree would permit. i got so high one timethati only hadlike twoopenings to shoot b/c i was above quite a few treetops. and it was windy. i honestly dont think i could have shot accurately. and im not bragging b/c i realize now howstupid it was, me and a buddy werejust seein who had the biggest balls. mostly now though i just get where i have the best shooting lanes, but also high enough to have decent coverage.
and for anyone looking for a good comfortable safety system that is really SAFE, check out the hunters safety system. my father bought me and him one last year and its pretty nice. it gets in the way from time to time but it makes me feel alot better.

RE: How high do you climb??

My hanger is two 15ft ladders high, minus a foot, my 3 ladder stands are built at 15. My climber I will go between 25 and 35. I do have a walnut tree with a platform at 15 and 25 in the same tree.

But then again I do stay on the ground on days in a blind, like the last week, so the answer would be between 0 and as high as I can climb on my climber.

I think the chances of scent awareness are more if you arent at least 15 or 20, but Im no scaredy cat when it comes to heights!
