Default Aggressive Blind Calling "For Deer"

Who uses this technique? How often do you/have you had success? What particular techniques do you use in aggressive blind calling?

To the tune of taking a particular bird's "temperature".....and doing whatever it takes to get that bird to commit......I broke ranks from my stated methodlology Saturday afternoon. I had a bird double gobbling at every call sequence.....and waited......and waited......and waited. Nothing. He'd respond every 20-30 minutes to my calls....and was shock gobbling at almost any sound.

I finally made the decision to get aggressive witht his bird. I called to him every time he responded....which was almost every sequence. He got fired up and eventually showed himself........appearing out of the woods about 60 yds to my right. He would never come any closer. He stood there in full strut gobbling.....but wouldn't commit or cover the ground to get into bow range.

I'm certain he could see my lone hen deke.....and I wonder if I didn't choose the wrong decoy setup for this particular bird.

WHo knows?

I guess I should have stated "Aggressive Blind Calling for Deer".

That's ok though Jeff. Better luck next time maybe on the Gobbler.

Yeah you are right PT. I guess everyone has gobbler on the brain right now. Myself, I really don't see myself wading the Moccasins and Copperheads(not to mention Timber Rattlers) in search of Mr. Tom if you know what I mean.

So anyway, let's hear your response everyone.

Thanks, LT

I'm a very aggressive caller and I have had much success with it. The deer really seem to respond around Halloween or so. I'll grunt 5-7 times loud enough for them to hear me and shut up for about 15 minutes and call again. I use the M.A.D. Buck growl to achieve these loud grunts; I never use the growl feature though.

I've killed four decent "bucks" (racked) in my life and I attribute them all to my calling techniques. I've called in many more but they weren't shooters or the shooters didn't offer a shot. I don't believe in the "grunt three times and shut up for 30 minutes." I like to be heard.

Thanks for the input ducsauce. I am surprised more bowhunters do not use these techniques. (Unless some are not speaking up) I know there are probably times of the season when this is not desirable, but I would like to use it when the time is right.

No problem man. I'm sure some would object but it works for me and I'll keep doing it until it doesn't.

I called in six bucks the morning I gutshot my last buck. Most of the bucks I saw this year were due to blind calling IMO. I saw several passerby's but a lot came in looking for the other "buck."
