Ghetto Tip Of The Day 04/12/08

Doctor Doctor give me the news I got a bad case of bow rope blues!!
We all know that scent can be a pain to control and our hands can be the biggest culprit. I stumbled upon this one while running a snowboard shop almost 12 years ago. I got a tip that you can use surgical gloves and wear them under gloves. The surgical gloves insulate the sweat in your hands and prevents it from absorbing into your outter glove allowing you to keep toasty hands.
Before every hunt I open the tailgate of the truck and put on my surgical gloves then grab my hunting gloves and put them on. The scent from my hands is contained and I can touch my bow rope and not worry about scent issues. I can also wear a thinner pair of gloves and increase dextarity.
I do have a funny story related to this tip and the cops but I will save it for a funny story sometime in the future.

10-4, I've went through boxes of them and always keep them on hand, both figuratively and literally, they are easy to use, cheap, disposable and they work slick forcontaining scent.I alwaysput them on when I am hanging a scouting cameraorfreshing a licking branch orscrape.. too....Good tip.

Prolonged use will cause serious swamp hand though, due to sweat. In cold weather this is a problem. I dont use them while on stand for this reason, I just spray down every now and then. I also take my bow haul rope in and out with me and always coil it up and put it in my pack while in stand.

I have had a few cases where I got pruning of the fingers but overall my hands stay warmer than without the surgical gloves. I also cary a bow rope on my pack as backup but leave all my ropes hanging from the stands and haven't had issues.
