What is the purpose of bait?

What is the purpose of ag crops?
Who you asking? The farmer?.....or the hunter?
I am asking the person that planted them .

So let me get this straight.......If the intent of the planter is to make a buck off whatever he plants......it's not baiting?

Or...if attracting deer is simply a side-effect of the planting......it's not baiting....no matter the hunter's intent for setting up where he does?

why is baiting just considerd pouring food out of a bag, its illegal where i hunt yet everyone has feilds to hunt over. And why are scents and calls legal than, your baiting the animal to come in?

Schultzy,

why is it that you bait for bear but would not bait for deer? Assuming that it were legal.
I don't need to bait for deer to shoot them where I live. Baiting Bear on the other hand is a must in Northern Minnesota. You wouldn't hardly have any luck unless you were sitting on a corn or oats field that was matured and ready. Speaking from expierence here.

Is an oak tree that drops acorns that grow into more oak tress baiting? Is a honeysuckle vine that propagates itself baiting?

Once again IMO, the purpose, the reason, the food source was planted/placed determines what it is.

If a hunter's intent is to setup on a rubline is the rubline now bait?

No. Hunting over the food source, is.

No. Hunting over that food source.....knowing it attracts deer, is.

To "Me"....no moreso than a hunter choosing to set up on a turd.....because he knows a deer's been there. But that's just me.

See....I view MANY, MANY things as ""baiting".....but I also don't view "baiting" as a dirty word.

Well there is something we can agree on. I've been baiting (putting a food source out for the purpose of attracting them)foxes for some time now. My plan is to shoot groundhogs to get more bait .

I have baited. I am not for baiting. I have nothing against anyone who chooses to bait.
If earn a buck is implimented in my hunting area I will bait to quickly get my buck tag.
