Ugh! It's a good thing the summers are so easy to survive up here because these winters sure are starting to suck. My plan is to consume as much fossil fuel as possible in order to hasten global warming!!!!

Don't have kids but I held on to quite a few things my dad has taught me.
1. I can set a snare and/or make box traps for rabbits, etc
2. Used to help my dad in the garden (used to even plant my own for my grandma)
3. I know of a few different mushrooms/plants that grow in spring and summer that are edible
4. Haven't made too many fires by hand (except with a lighter)
Theres probably a few more but I can't think of them. I think I would have a good chance of surviving off the land if it came down to it.

Could be Black Dawn Vabowman.[:-]
Nah, not really. That was not ever insinuated in my original topic. Seems we have the ever-present "underground" militia here though.
My original idea was about helping the next generation. (My kids)

It absolutely does have a lot to do with hunting and fishing. Just by getting them to the outdoors to experience this stuff, the same with camping, gives them a good advantage to surviving off the land.

Don't want to turn this into a faith/religious argument at all Preach, but Faith, without works, is fruitless . (as is works without faith.) God had to show the children of Israel what to do and when to do it, and yet they still wandered around in the wilderness for 40 yrs., and some never inherited the promise. Just like God tried to teach them, I feel that I must teach my own. (And if they don't learn...well?) Faith is a great "part" of it, but it takes a willingness to work, to get the job done.

It is a promise of God, though my friend ...... If God allowed those that are His to fall in a situation as described, He would provide .... supernaturally if need be ..... I think of the children of Israel, where God provided manna in the wilderness,,,,,,
