Don't have kids but I held on to quite a few things my dad has taught me.

1. I can set a snare and/or make box traps for rabbits, etc
2. Used to help my dad in the garden (used to even plant my own for my grandma)
3. I know of a few different mushrooms/plants that grow in spring and summer that are edible
4. Haven't made too many fires by hand (except with a lighter)

Theres probably a few more but I can't think of them. I think I would have a good chance of surviving off the land if it came down to it.
