carbon arrows for deer hunting?
#12
I am shooting 31" Beman ICS Hunter (400' s) carbon arrows now. I havn' t had any problems, I bought them already made up from www.eders.com They cut the arrows to my desired length, then fletched them with Dura-vanes, added Easton Super nocks (pressure nocks), and, I got arrows sent to me that were for the most part, ready to go. Now, the pressure nocks are great, it is recommended that you glue them into place, but, I never did. I simply put each arrow on my string, and turned them so I was getting the fletching to rest clearance that I wanted. I never had a problem with the nocks flying off or even moving at all.
Before these I was shooting Game Tracker Terminators and I really didn' t like them. It seemed that there were more arrows that were bad than good in a dozen.
There was only one arrow out of the dozen Bemans that I got that was a " flyer" . For some reason, it just wanted to give me troubles. So, I got 11 great arrows out of 12, and, the one bad one became my " beat up arrow" . By this, I mean that it was still accurate (I could hit 3" circles at 20 yards with it, while I was hitting 1" circles with the other arrows), so, I used this arrow for all types of thing. I used it to scare rabbits out of my garden (they really don' t like having an arrow stick in the ground 6 inches away from them). Finally, I decided to test the arrow one day. I shot it into a old piece of metal that I found in my woods at about 10 yards. The arrow never shattered, the insert shoved back up into the shaft, but, that was it. These are some tough arrows, and not only that, but, they seem to be the quietest drawing arrows I have shot. There coating makes for a PERFECTLY smooth surface, so, when it slides across the arrow rest, it makes no noise.

David what size uni bushing fits the bemans?I' m finally going to venture out of the dark ages and get some newer carbons.I' ve been shooying AFC Vmax' s.Those skinny little buggers are some tough! I like the idea of some protection for the nock end of the arrow. It' s easy to damage them shooting groups when things are going good.

CAJUNBOWHNTR, if you have ICS 400 series arrows....ACC 3-60 bushings and inserts fit them. I am not sure about the other size Beman ICS series.
Hope this helps.
