I'm still thinking about finding a cape and having him mounted. It just feels odd because it wouldn't be his cape. However, I did tell myself I would do the above if I ever did find him.

Congrats man, I know how you feel i had a similiar thing happen my buck jumped up a ran when I was approaching, I found him 8 weeks later and the yippers had picked him clean but the feeling of grabbing the bone after all that searching was as good as the day he came strolling in.

Congrats on finding the antlers but I've got to have the dissenting opinion on mounting him. I couldn't display him proudly knowing that I had let him down like that. It would just be a nagging reminder of my failure. Not sure that I'd have even kept the rack except as a reminder not to do it again, but I hardly need a physical reminder of those screw ups, they stick in the craw pretty hard as it is. (and don't anyone go thinking that I'm passing any kind of judgements here, I'm not. Been there myself and I've just got a different view on it.)
