I really need to practice more with mine. The little bit of reading I did when I tried my first diaphragm was the rolling Rs to purr, but I never really got around to practicing a whole lot.

LMAO. Best part of that movie in 5,4,3,2,1.......
The "Quail Hunt?" LOL that almost was too ridiculous.

I just ordered a set for dubbyasdoe, so she can call in my big birds (although she probably doesn't need ANY help).:D:D:D Anyway, I'm sure this is common knowledge to some but I just wanted to share.

podId=0024589226515&parentId=cat602433&mas terpathid=&navAction=jump&cmCat=102607turk ey-catfeathunt
&catalogCode=IJ&rid=&parentType=index& amp;indexId=cat602433&hasJS=true

wow... romantic and cheap.

ha!

Just remember... nagging helps....lol... nah, I'm kidding...he actually did do it on his own...but I think it's because I had previously spent about $75 bucks to experiment with a lot of different diaphragms...or...he's trying to throw me off track...because I'm better than him... :)

Well then just look at it as you getting to save money. ;)

I can roll my tongue. I can roll my R's.

I just can't do it with a call in my mouth. [>:]

RE: Diaphragm FYI

Motorboaters: I have a pretty shallow gag reflex too - so to get a good purr, I cut a little off the back (careful not totrim so much that you lose your seal), then I kinda turn it a little bit to the side, and roll my tongue over it.

You kinda have to cup your tongue and just roll the tip of it over the reeds. I have this technique where I kinda just roll the left half of my tongue, and pin the call down with the right half. That's why I turn the call a little bit sideways.

Yes, this is a conversation between men about the depth of our gag reflexes and how long our tongues are . . .

I know a lot of people that have difficulty making the quiet seductive putts, purrs, and soft clucks with a diaphragm. They can yelp and cackle but the soft sounds that help get a bird into bow range are sometimes more difficult. Anyway, something that I realized is that pretty much everyone uses a full size call and most people don't trim their calls. A smaller frame diaphragm makes it much easier to make these sounds and is just as capable of making full tones and volumes as any other call. I tried the mini mag from quaker boy a couple of years ago and found it extremely easy to use. Since then I've turned a few friends that previously had difficulities and it made a huge difference for them. I just ordered a set for dubbyasdoe, so she can call in my big birds (although she probably doesn't need ANY help). Anyway, I'm sure this is common knowledge to some but I just wanted to share.

Dubbya, another outlet for your small frame calls is River Valley Game Calls. They've known about the issue with the big frames and big tape for years and market all their calls with the smallest frame without going to the youth frame. Great calls offered in many different cuts and reed thickness.http://www.rivervalleygamecalls.com

Personally I use mine without tape. ;)
