RE: Trophy Hunting "Do you do it"
I have passed up so many bucks in the last few years I couldnt count how many. If it looks like it could turn into a real nice one in the next two years, I let it walk. Why rip yourself and others off if you know it can be a great lookin' deer later. I will smoke a doe for some meat though!!!!!:D

RE: Trophy Hunting "Do you do it"
I try to do whats best for all of the worlds people,I only try to shoot deer that are old ,maybe weak, andeven down trodden.
Basically inferior specimens.Genetic mutants, cripples just about any handicap that I can use to my advantage to render them freezer fodder .;) |
RE: Trophy Hunting "Do you do it"
And, with that I have experiance interacting with them and thats where I form my opinions. I do not generalise. Far from it. Turn on the TV and you'll know what Im talking about.
I only speak the truth and try to be honest as possible. I know Scotland isn't perfect too but we aren't shut off from current affairs either. :) So in other words, Im not exactly bashing. I think others do a better job than me for example the middle east. I love America, thats why Im going back for 2 weeks to hunt. |

RE: Trophy Hunting "Do you do it"
ORIGINAL: remington_girl ORIGINAL: Badger_Girl93 ORIGINAL: remington_girl ORIGINAL: Badger_Girl93 I don't know for sure, but I suspect the meat is left for logistical reasons. And I also suspect that it is left for locals to consume, rather than simply wasted. If your game laws allow for NR hunters to kill an animal and waste the meat then that is a problem with the law, notjust withthe hunters. Labeling a group of people as idiots because you disagree with them seems pretty idiotic. It is the same with me, when I go to MS I cannot take meat home with me. Its not game laws as such its DEfRA who make these rules to stop disease being passed from one country to the next. Sarah. |

ORIGINAL: remington_girl No, because its unethical and not true hunting. You kill only what you eat. Not for a head. Senseless killing gets right on my nerves. However my first kill I would also take the head aswell as with themeatto symbolise my "first one" There are many so called American "trophy hunters" that come to Scotland purely to get a big red stag and leave the meat. People like that should not come here if they're going to act like idiots and disgrace our hunting heritage. ORIGINAL: remington_girl The majority of people who come here are ignorant and only want trophies. I have nothing to be shameful about. Most places you go to actually prepare the meat for you but they never seem to want it and most stay for about 4 weeks. To kill atrophy buck is fine but I hate to see the meat go to waste when there is fine meat there. When I go to MS for 2 weeks I will eat what meat i can but when I have to return home I will give it to my extended family over there as good will. ORIGINAL: remington_girl Im not "idiotic" I have pleanty of education under me,im just telling how it is from experiance and things i've heard from game keepers who i keep friendly with. ORIGINAL: remington_girl And im sure theres also pleanty who waste meat on American soil too. And that is indeed their problem and they should be ashamed. I dont know many like that but the majority of Americans that I know all keep the meat frozen until consumption. Then when Iasked you this below: ORIGINAL: NEW61375 What are they ignorant about? How much meat would be an acceptable amount to eat in 4 weeks? A pound a day would still only be 28 lbs. are you saying that after they kill the animal and prepare to return home that if they can't ship it they "waste" it? How do they do that? Do they throw it on the ground, leave it at the airport, hide it in their room when they leave? It seems that the place they are hunting should have some knowledge of local places the meat could be used or donated as most of the hunters probably don't have extended family to leave it with over there, kind of likethe Hunters for the Hungry organization in the states. RE: Trophy Hunting "Do you do it"
I think Miss Remington is apologizing..She was in the mood for a little debating on a topic to get through a Friday Afternoon (actually evening in Scotland). I don't think it was her intent to get us Inflamed.
Perhaps we give her a Visa on this one and let her off the hook. ;) |

I dont like sheep, I like men wearing kilts with nothing on under them - true Scotsmen. :D Personally, I've always wished it were the Scottish women that wore the kilts.[8D] |

Remington Girl, how many Scots still wear kilts for other than ceremonial reasons? Just curious. Around here in America there aren't too many guys wearing knickerbockers anymore.
If you like guys in kilts, I'm just wondering how much of a selection you have. |

In some sorts yes I'm a trophy hunter I guess. Depends on what I'm hunting. If its whitetails and black bear- Yes I would be a trophy hunter. Any other species probably not. The more I get of one species the more pickier I'll get in the future on that particular game animal. I love the meat also!!!!!

RE: Trophy Hunting "Do you do it"
I am, Right now a trophey for me is at least 125 inches. Maybe 1 day I'll be able to pass on anything under 140 or 150. Not to that point yet...:)
