I was thinking...a while back we had a spurt of how-to's posted by various members on topics such as D-loop tying, nock tying, centershot setup (via lazer), peep sight tying, even a very thorough P&Y scoring thread. I would think it would be a nice resource to make those threads stickied for future reference as they were EXCELLENT resources for me, and I'm sure they would be for others, too. There's several ways to go about it.

One, we could merge all of the bow maintenance threads into one big thread that's stickied, then make the scoring thread a seperate sticky. You could make them all seperate threads, or you could make a seperate forum/sub-forum (call it a general archery/bowhunting resource folder) and make it read-only, and begin a growing collection of resource threads on various topics (tuning methods, deer management, equipment reviews, archery/bowhunting nomenclature, etc) that are written by members on here (of course these would need mod approval to be "worthy" of being posted, but it would be very similar to what's on AT. So, what do you guys think? Good idea? Bad idea?

That was one of the driving factor behind this idea. I use the search feature on all sorts of forums I belong to extensively (tundrasolutions, toyota territory, AT, etc) but they're all VB forums and the search feature is much better in my opinion. The search feature here works, you just need to play with it a bit. However, having one central resource thread and/or sub-forum would make it much more convenient.

Maybe we can have Justin create a subforum entitled "How-To Favorites" or something like that... the reason I've resisted "pinning" too many is I -- as well as others -- hate how stickying threads at the top of a page pushes the start of that page down... and with too many "stuck", people just really begin ignoring them (a good example is someone asked about tying d-loops in the tech forum right under my "how to tie a d-loop thread, and people actually felt compelled to offer a link to it...)

The ones in the tech forum were pinned because they answered probably the most commonly asked questions or -- as in the case of Arthur's thread -- gave wonderful insight into a basic process that probably the majority of archers have no idea about, and it's asked about frequently as well.

Greg, the issue with the threads being pushed down is why I made mention of having the subforum (like on AT...I know I know, stop referencing that site, but they have some good resources there). The threads within the subforum would be read-only as to eliminate clutter, unless the mods feel otherwise. I know that you had several very good threads on basic assembly operations, tuning methods, etc, that can still be found using the search feature, but I would think having all of them in one central location at all times would be easier and more efficient. But hey, I'm only one person. I want to hear other opinions on this as well.
