Answer me this.......you live in NC....where you can basically kill ALL the does you want to. But.....Rifle season starts when the rut starts. WHY woud you waste your time on a doe.....when it's the BEST time to kill a buck? It's no wonder there are more bucks killed in NC than does. This isn't rocket science. GMMAT you actually said ..you wish the slaughter was tougher on gun hunters? How many deer were you responsible for Killing last year? You keep proclaiming your a rookie or a newbie..how many deer have you killed in 2 years? How many gun hunters do you KNOW that took more in that time period?? Lkn Chompers..what has a 1 week season done for Ohio and Illinois? Why don't you enlighten us. By the way, Ohio isin excess of 25 days (thats over 3 weeks ;))... We have many different gun seasons. Geez the elitests are out in forcebeating the same old tired drum... |

The youth season is kind of nice b/c the kids have a good chance of seeing and getting a shot at a deer and most kids will shoot the first deer that walks by anyway. By the law of averages, if everyone did that, then there would be no need for QDM;) |

I haven't been over to the lease at all since January, but don't you worry your pretty little head. I'll be scouting turkey for the first time ever this spring:D

i agree but it is not about gun hunting the rut but about letting them grow bigger
if someone wonts to shoot that spike there going to do it with a bow or gun just might take them longer with a bow ORIGINAL: rybohunter It's not about rifle vs bow, its a debate on management. Most feel that having a rifle season during the rut allows for too many bucks to be killed. Bow seasons aren't as effective on a widespread basis at controlling deer numbers as gun seasons are. So yes, in my opinions gun seasons should be kept out of the rut, not because I don;t like guns, but becuase I like to allow bucks to grow older. |

i am from indiana here bow starte oct 1st and gun nov 17th so you get a month and a half gun free
i saw alot of deer at the check in sites in gun season most where big deer |
