my preference is in the lungs. Where I'm at and my position doesn't really matter as long as the deer cooperates.

Most of my luck has been in tree stands weather it's bow, muzzle or rifle / handgun

I tried sittin when I first started, and missed my first 2 deer...Im never gonna take a sitting shot again

I stand up or dont shoot. The first shot I took while standing was an excellent hit, and it was pretty much the same situation as when I was sitting....It just a mental thing I guess

I try to setup my stand where I can get a shot from a sitting position if possible, but if I see where the deer is going to be approaching from the wrong side I will stand and stand early enough to be in a position to draw when the deer is in range and presents a good shot.

My all time favorite hunt was sitting on the ground. I shot a doe at 5 yds. I had no cover other than being in shade with my back to an oak. She was standing in full sun in the pasture. By the time she knew I was there it was too late. It is the doe in my avatar, my first archery deer.

Standing, sitting in a stand.. either is fine and I have done both. Off the ground I like to be on one knee. Eye level from a man maid ground blind is wicked imo, my favorite by far if Iget to pick.
