No reason to be a poacher. Let well enough alone. Animal kingdom has its set of rules, and works well, if humans can stay out of it.

If we let well enough alone and left the animal kingdom (the rest of it) to its own set of rules, then there wouldn't be hunting.
I know that I am twisting your words a bit, and I am not arguing your stanceabout letting the infection kill her. I just have heard the above argument (animal kingdom can takecare of itself)from anti-hunters and so I had to address it. I feel like we as hunters can't take that stance or we lose any argument we have beyond, "I just like to kill stuff."

I have taken two different approaches to this same scenario. Last year with Conservation Officer permission (I work for the state) I ended it for a doe who had a broken hind leg and was caught in a very small patch of open water in an otherwise ice coveredriver. The reasonI did this is because I had already received numerous calls about her because she was in the middle of a state park, people concerned some hunter must have wounded her. For this reason I decided to off her. Instead of letting more and more people see her and more and more people come to the same "assumption." It was the right thing to do, legal, and savedface for sportsmen.
Had this same deer been in the woods, away from people, I would have let nature take its course. Its just the way things are meant to be.

Absolutely no brainer for me, in less time than it takes to post this, she'd be put out of her misery -no more suffering. You guys think too much. Read the bible and study about the Pharisees, they also took the letter of the law too seriously and were chastised for it.

This whole thing brings up another question. What if you see a deer like this and you know for a fact that her suffering is a direct result of a slug rifle or arrow wound? Knowing that a hunter has caused this suffering. Now I would almost feel responsible as a hunter[:@].

Interesting.... using a biblical reference to support a point of view that would condone an illegal act.I'm not slamming you in any way...it's just interesting.

We are part of the animal kingdom.

Its human to have feelings about it. But I need to step back and see the big picture.

It is funny to me how far "institutionalized" we have all become....we might as well let the government tell us what to do, down to what type of toilet paper we use. Preacher, call it what you want as we all know "poaching" is the not only the hunting of animals outside of hunting season, but killing animals for your betterment, whether it be a bucks rack, or whatever.....this man is thinking of putting a wounded deer out of its misery...MUCH DIFFERENT and I say the hell with the regulations.

If you study the gospels, my analogy is sound.
