With all the talk lately on our discouraging views of most hunting videos and television shows. I'd really like to know..

What do you gentlemen (and ladies) want in a show. And be specific please!

Bow only.... Buck and doe hunts..... All DIY style hunts, no outfitted or restricted accesslands.... A host and hunter who knows and sounds like they know what they are doing.

I'm not to picky... Just show it how it really is, I just hate the "fakeness" and OVER editingof a lot of shows.

IMO, probably someone that can go out on a 20 acre piece or property, show the aerial maps, plan of attack, what they didto draw the deer in,and shoot a decent buck and maybe a few does. I know a lot of guys (including myself) that hunt hard, put in their time in the offseason, and never see a buck over 70 inches all year! Some people go out on a 2000 acre area where not many people hunt and see dozens of 125-150 inch bucks...then to later shoot a 160-170 incher year after year.

I want to see reality, the misses, the screw ups, etc!! More Traditional bow hunts also I think would be good.

- More Wild/COMPLETELY free chasehunts- less farmed/outfitted. It's really hunting when you have 5 150" deer you get to pick from during the hunt.
- Less 300 yard shots from a huge tower out in the middle of a field, I know it'shunting, but not the kind I personally wanna see when I watch tv.
- More amateur huntersinstead of Pro's who get paid to come hunt the big farms
- Less advertising, more hunting.

There's more I suppose. I guess I am just getting fed up with all of it being commercialized into a big business.

Gene and Barry Wensel had some of the best video's in my opinion. I've met both guys at the Pope And Young conventions and they are 1st class people.

First of all, I love your signature!

I like detailed information about the hunt like date, time, temperature, ect. It gives me a better idea on animals behavior. I also like good editing. Keep the viewers attention. Humor is always good!

Regular Joe bowhunting the land like most of us regular Joe's do. Sort of like Buckeye said.

Also, my favorite hunting whitetail video of all time is still the original Bowhunting October Whitetails. They showed misses as well as hits, was somewhat educational, but more than anything it was a fun video.

I really like how The White Knuckle guys put together their first video. One thing I like about it is it shows them changing sets to try to get closer to the deer. I love how they show how they set their stand up and also why they did it. To me this relates to more of a hunting show rather than having a stand that is just there and they are huting it. I like to know why they hung the stand there, and just a little details about the spot they are hunting. That's just me though.

I personally would rather see more footage of the Deer...you know the actuall "STAR" of the show,too many times I have to watch the antics of the person that is hunting or commercials of the products they are endorsing! :eek:That and when they jump around like a stupid monkey or after they shot their deer they walk up on it like they did a search and rescue for 5 days and it dropped right in sight about 50-75 yards away....give me a break Please!!!Then they do a lousy angle shot of the Deer or barely even show the porportions and symetrics of its rack.Oh yeah....and show more Youths hunting,they are our Future and it is great to see when they get their first Doe or Buck because they don't have to act to show how happy they really are! ;) Thats my 2 cents worth so far!

Couldn't agree more with this statement. Even though I love the great story telling and production of the Drury video's.. they've lost my attention over the years with all there hunting on huge, well managed farms, and outfitters.:(

I would love a show where they teach you something. I do love seeing those big bucks but would trade them for a show teaching something.The problem is a lot of these people on these shows don't really know much except pay money -get hunt. I saw a show where the guy who killed a prong horn admitted he never gutted an animal!!!! and would not gut that one!!!! I have even posted a forum on this site asking for people to share just one tip. what I got was someone saying not to fart! another not to forget toilet paper.:(

I bought 3 benoit videos wanting to learn how to track. what a dissapointment.
ex. 2 beniots get out of truck and say "that looks like a 200-240# what do you think ? yup lets flip to see who takes him" What I hoped for was them to video the track and explain in detail what they see. TEACH ME SOMETHING!

I hate when they video a draw or a push off of the saftey after the shot just toadd dramatic effect!!! Please!!! Give Me A Break!!!
Show me the draw from behind the hunter with the deer in frame!!!

And I also hate the fake traking jobs were they put the camera behind the deer looking through the antlersback at the hunter and the hunter says " Oh there he is!!" like he is surprised to find the deer!

I mean Come on!!! [:'(]

Real blood trail follow up...........the fake stuff and staged reactions on the recovery drive me batty.

A little more of the hows and whys and tell a story vs a "Blood bath" where it's just kill after kill.

Honest interaction and day to day happenings and fun between 2 buddies in a tree with one common goal. There is so much funny and interesting stuff that happens over the course of the season that every single scene doesn't need to be so "Hollywood" with the same cutaways followed by a dead animal. I actually like the way "Gettin Close" and "Whitetail Freaks" is produced. Do something different.

I'd like to see fewer food plot hunts. "He came right into the _______ food plot, just like he did the past 23 evenings" [&:]I'm not against food plots, but watching a guy in his stand playing video Yahtzee waiting for the 4:42pm buck to walk out gets old fast. Keep the ads/plugs at the beginning or end of the show. I don't think the camo under armour he's wearing (that isn't even visible to the deer) had much to do with the hunt.

SCALE IT DOWN to NORMAL SIZE. It's not realistic for most of us to have a thousands in farm equiptment for food plots. I like planting plots and would like to see people doing it like most of us do it.

More footage of the deer instead of just the kill shot.

Remember the instant replay slow motion shot? Can we bring that back?

Explinations of why they are set up where they are.

More hunting in open timber and steep terrain.

Misses, doe kills, small buck kills, guns, camp, bad weather, and bloopers....:D

Walk onto a piece of property that is public access. Like a State Gameland or wildlife area. Not Betty Joe's farm that hasn't been hunt since 1967.

No cultivated bait (Food plot) fields. I don't want to see you interviewed in your truck on the drive in or out..boring!

and for me ONLY..there is nothing more sleep inducing than watching someone hunt Turkey!

Show some reverence to the animal that just died. When t.v guys fist pump and start sinckering like little school girls it makes me want to drive my fist through their face. You know thatHyena sound?
How about a lessonabout cleaning and butchering game and bow tuning how too's. Lots of new hunters need help with this.

I don't know if I could watch another TV hunt. But what would bring me back would be more public land hunting showing
a. extensive scouting what they are looking for and why
b. stand placement and why that particular tree and not another one
c. hunting in my area no some state where deer are all enormous and plentiful come to Mass and really show me something. No Pa,Il, Ohio and other deer rich country.
d. The hunt (least important)
e. The after the shot work and what happens when everything don't go perfect.

If the TV and Vids would be real like this I would probably start watching again, Even if it was in parts Part 1 scouting next week prt 2 stand placement etc.

Take offers from people mailing you there land to hunt on. What I mean is have people mail inquiries to you about them having trouble pinning down some particular buck they've been after and see if the 2 of you working together could get this particular deer or buck. Involve yourself and that person in the hunt and footage. By doing it like this you would have a ton of areas to hunt on without over hunting your area and also it would bring the average person on a hunting show, I think people would respect that!

Impact shots. And none of thefake crap where the cameraman is standing next to the dead deer and the hunter says, "there he is!"
