I don't know if I could watch another TV hunt. But what would bring me back would be more public land hunting showing
a. extensive scouting what they are looking for and why
b. stand placement and why that particular tree and not another one
c. hunting in my area no some state where deer are all enormous and plentiful come to Mass and really show me something. No Pa,Il, Ohio and other deer rich country.
d. The hunt (least important)
e. The after the shot work and what happens when everything don't go perfect.
If the TV and Vids would be real like this I would probably start watching again, Even if it was in parts Part 1 scouting next week prt 2 stand placement etc.

I never liked it when they put a great shot on a buck and even after watching video of it, they decide to wait until morning! [:@]
Show me your tracking skills (right away on a good hit).
Let me see you tag it immediatly.
Let me see you drag that bad boy all the way back to the truck one-handed, not just a few feet then cut the film.

I want someone to do videos where they hunt public ground or go knocking on some doors gaining permission. No fences, leases, bait plots and that sort of stuff. I'd love a show where they show you can still go hunting all for the price of the tag, it is possible!
I want to learn something, show the scouting, glassing, shed hunting, stand and blind preperation oh andlots of deer footage stuff.
No fakey reactions and emotionsafter the shots.
No fake track jobs
More young folks, teenagers and young folks in thier 20s.Maybe some footage of dad or uncle taking the kids hunting on some state land or a relatives place. No professional hunter or guide holding thier hand and telling them witch buck they can and can not shoot.
I don't like watching a 6 year old shooting bucks from an elevated trailer house at deer eating from a feeder with a rifle either.
Just some more realistic stuff for the common man. Not the wealthy guy wheremoneys no object types.
And whats with this hunting the world southern style , rap music and hunting don't mix. And what is "southern style"??
No PSE pro staff garbage and you know who you are. Long unethical shots, shooting at dall sheep hundreds of yards away just to say you shot at one.. WTH??
No David Morris granting his wife permission to shoot one of his big cattle like raised bucks, did you see that episode! Talk about pathetic! I'd have love to have seen David Blanton drive into the ranch that night with Morris's "shooter" buck in the back of his truck, that would have been classic stuff!
It's called hunting, not deer farming or ranching. Bring the wild and the sport back to hunting, you don't have to have lots of money to be able to have a great hunt. I loved the Wensel videos and other old school stuff as well.
And they should have a ratings sytem that should be displayed before the hunt, like.

That way I wouldn't find myself waisting my time watching some self proclaimed "pro hunter" sitting in a fenced in area waiting for the genetic freak to come in for a bite to eat.

I wouldn't mind a few shots showing the hunter placing his steps or climbing sticks along with hanging the stand or climbing in his climber........be kind of cool to see someone else doing it and why they chose that spot.

I love the rating idea 5575gb. How about a disclaimer showing how much it costs to hunt there! I'm also sick of hearing them tell me how TOUGH their hunt was. BOO HOO ! Hey this venting is real fun!

Show some reverence to the animal that just died. When t.v guys fist pump and start sinckering like little school girls it makes me want to drive my fist through their face.

I think I would echo much of what has been said here before: Not real impressed with hunting behind a fence, HATE the staged "drawing the bow" scene, I get tired of watching guys just sit on the edge of a green field (although I understand it, much easier to get good footage), and I also think it would be cool to see different styles of hunting...instead of just sitting on a green field show guys doing deer drives, or hunting with hounds or tracking (this might not be possible due to the difficulties of filming but its a thought). That being said I think the company that consistantly does it the best is Primos, lots of over the shoulder shots, lots of emotion, guys that seem like fun, and there are always a couple hunts involving kids.

I want to know why you put your stand in THAT tree. I want to know EVERY reason behind your decision. If thats wher ethe outfitter told you to set up.....say so. If you're there because you've seen a buck exiting in that vicinity a few days prior....or even last season during this time......tell me. If it's got a good tree in front of it that you might use for cover to draw.....tell me. If it's simply 30 yds away from where you last encountered him....and you wanted to mix things up......tell me. If you can orient yourself to keep the sun ou of your eyes in that tree in that time of day.......tell me. If it's a great wind for that tree.....tell me.
These are things WE ALL think about every time we hunt. I don't think the guys we see on TV DO.
Why are you shooting your setup on your bow? Why that bow? Arrow? BH? If it isn't for $$.....why?
How do you practice?
So many things they never tell us.........so many.......
