Downside to 1 Pin Sight?
#1
Just curious what some of you would say. I used the VBG Pro Slide sight this past season. It worked flawlessly. I am not taking shots out to 40 yds , although I think I could in certain situations. So what are the downsides to using a 1 pin sight?

i only shoot to 30 yards.
i only have 1 pin.
its dead on at 20, aim about2" high at 30 yards.
the bad part is im only accurate to 30 yards and ive had big bucks around 50-60 yards broadside taunting me. all i can do is hope for him to get closer.
i used to have 3 pins. 20,40,60
if i can hit the deer's vitals 100% of the time at 30 yards, but hit he vitals 70% of the time at 40, why shoot a deer at 40 with that 30% margin of missing the vitals? thats what made me take off the 2 other pins.
the good side is. if any deer gets within 30 yards there is not 1 reason why i should not hit a vital or miss the shot.

I don't see any LT. When I buy a bow, my first priority is getting a bow that will shoot out to 30 yds with one pin. If it shoots further than that's great, but I won't shoot past 30 yds, I won't shoot more than one pin, too confusing for me!!

I'm not so sure I can take a .019 pin and move it only a 1/2 inch on the body of a deer at 30 yds. Man that is some good eyes. LOL I think I am going to try a little experiment. I am going to sight in for 25 yds or so and then just see how much I need to raise it on my 3d target to get a 40yd bullseye. Hoping I don't ever need to shootone that far, but if the opportunity arises, I want to know I can get the job done.

I kinda feel the same way early. I just think after hunting with both a 3 pin sight and a single pin, there is less in my sight picture to deal with. jmho

The only real downsides are having to move it for a longer shot in the field with a deer in front of you. Or the most common is forgetting where you had it set and shooting for the wrong yardage. I have sailed a few arrows over my target because I forgot to move my sight after changing from 40 to 20 yards.
Other than that they are great, I like them.
