ORIGINAL: GregH ORIGINAL: GMMAT My "experience" with mature bucks is......I've been hunting a little over 2 years and I've killed 2 of 'em. Rocket science this isn't......no matter how much "mystique" you wanna give these animals. !!!haha:D |

Yep............. you're a legend in you're own mind. EVERY time I have a differing opinion than yours.....you take your personal potshots. SO predictable. You have to know how foolish this makes you look. I'll leave you to continue. Have a good evening. |

RE: PROOF IR spooks some deer (Pics)
I have video of my cuddeback no flash, and the deer seem very inquisitive like they can see it in the dark/night like a flash, even though there is no flash, makes me wonder if it's a marketing scheme, can deer see infered? in a sense IR is just a color we humans can't see, just like deer can't see red we can't see IR. Though I wonder if they can hear some unusual sounds from the camera, no matter how slight.

From using the Cudde Back No Flashes and a Bushnell IR, a lot last year and a little the year before, I feel for what ever reason, whether it be noise, the light etc.. the IR"Swill and do seem to spook the older bigger more skittish bucks... somethings going on because I saw time and time again, on a specifice water hole this past summer when we had a nearly drought conditions and extreme fire danger that forced deer to the mostavailable water, along with moose, elk, bears etc.. all in the same water hole.. only the Big bucks I photoed there seemed to spook in reaction to the camera.. all the other younger bucks, does, elk both bulls and cows, bull moose, and even a bear and couple hawks.. didnt seem to mind the camera. Many of the same younger bucks, bull moose, and a bull elk revisited, getting over 50 photos of some of them...I only got 1 visit and no more than 2 pictures in the visitof the three biggest bucks I saw all summer on that water hole via my cameras....never to photo them again.. and I know they had to travel a long ways to other water.. something was up.. jm2c

this buck I got on my Bushnell IR this one and only time.. in the second photoof him.. I had it set on 30 second intervals ....he spooks.. Never saw him again at this water hole.. I know this buck well from glassing him before and seeing him and passing on him a year earlier.. I found one of his sheds too. all within a 1/4 square milearea..he has long candlestick tines and was a bit spindly the year I passed him ...06.. i figured he was just 3.5 then..thats the shed we (my boys and I)found too...a side I believe from his 06 set..possibly his 05 if hes older than I guessed.. I figure him at least 4.5 in this camera photo..
I pictured other big bucks at thishole only to never see them again there again this summer.. while the younger bucks, bulls and moose all revisited and I have several photos of... |
RE: PROOF IR spooks some deer (Pics)
Well, from what I can gather from this thread and being I am a skittish, paranoid individual I best put a camera onto trails that I don't plan on hunting[&:]. If I find a nice buck I do want to hunt then I best be hunting where he is not getting his picture taken;).

RE: PROOF IR spooks some deer (Pics)
![]() I strongly suspect that it's noise from the unit spooking them, deer don't see red and IR is the far end of the red spectrum. |
