Default Couldn't stand it any longer......

Well, been staying out of the woods since the end of bow season, Jan 6th. Saw a couple nice bucks that made it through bow season, gun season, muzzle loading season, and another bow season.

Soooo, been chomping at the bit to get out and look for sheds. Got down to maybe an inch of snow, a week after the season ended, but since then we have gotten around 18-20"

45 degrees out today though, 3-6 inches of snow predicted for tonite then dropping to a nice balmy 5 degree high on Wednesday, so right after work I couldn't restrain myself anymore.

Had an hour before dark, grabbed the dog, and headed out to the woods.....nothing ground breaking but did end up with some success......

The spike still had a bit of blood on the bottom of the antler, the other one, the G2 and G3 were all that was visible in the snow, had to chip the ice away from the rest to get it out.......gotta get the sheds before the critters do......

I saw a beauty of an 8 pt.buck yesterday. Never saw him during the season of course. Mental note to self where he was feeding...
I usually don't see the bucks dropping thier racks in PA till later this month or Feb.I can't wait to get out looking. There's nothing to do after the Super Bowl anyway.

I went out 2 days ago for an hour. We got about 13-14 inches of snow. Did not find a shed which was dissapointing. I hit a major funnel with lots of ceder trees. All the snow around every ceder was beaten to bear dirt, and all the branches were eaten off up to as high as I could reach. I thought that would be a great place to look. I will re-check when the snow resides.

Good find by the way.

Well, didnt get a chance to get out before we got the snow all day saturday (2-3"[:'(]) But I did manage to get out for a couple hours Sunday morning.....

So, after about 90 minutes of stomping around the woods with the dog, I look over and see this (from about 40 yards away)

This was the 9th long distance potential shed I had seen, the 8 before it didnt pan out but you have to go and check everything out.

Still had hair around the pedicle and quit a bit of blood on it also......unfortunatly most of the blood has been worn off, thought maybe a fresh shed might get the dog interested in 'fetching' it and maybe getting him interested in helping me find sheds

Anyway, ended up looking like a really nice 2 1/2 year old, but probably a smallish (for our area) 3 year old horn.....
