What's wrong with this way of thinking?

RE: What's wrong with this way of thinking?
I believe having the same pins represent differing yardages for 3D and hunting could create some mental interference or negative habit transfer (for me). I would hate to shoot at a 30 yard, real live whitetail with my 25 yard 3D pin.
I have always used the same set-up (arrow, bow etc). For me personally, the dominant reason toshoot 3D is to become a better hunter. By swapping between set-up's to gain an advantage in 3D, I would loose some benefit from shooting my hunting set-up year round.
If there was a 'real' bowhunting 3D category that required use of broadheads, gloves and face masks, I would shoot it. You can bet the beer money that many of the bows used in the bowhunting class have never seen a treestand.

I'm shooting the same arrows, sight pins everything. I like my hunting setup and use ACC shafts. I even leave the poundage the same. Hunter Class, I am not trying to be super competative just looking to have fun. Switching arrows and having two definitions for your pins would be a head ache. I like 20,30,40 yards for my pins. I really like to keep it simple. If you change sights you may want to have a machined in locking pin or something because once you pull it off it may be a fraction off when you put it back on, even in a good dovetail.

Let me also add.....that my views on hunting whitetails has changed as of late.
Let's just say I will only require one pin from my hunting bow in the situations I will face.

personally, not being a real competitive shooter, I see absolutely no reason the casual "for fun" guy would do anything BUT use one rig for it all... but then again, maybe i'm just a dipchit

ORIGINAL: buckeye
Why not use the same length spikes on all turf surfaces?
ORIGINAL: BigJ71
Why not just use the exact same set up for 3D as you do for hunting??

Maybe I missed something, Jeff are you using your hunting bow for 3D?
