Default Turkey Blades

I am seriously thinking about taking my bow out this spring. I have no ambition to shoot a turkey with a shotgun anymore, but I have tons of birds and can't get enough of shooting my bow. I don't have a clue as to which head I should use. Is a regular BH ok or are there specialized heads out there that I should be using? Thanks.

The Guillotine is down right nasty for turkeys. There are also a couple of new heads coming out this year. They are called the Turkey Terror, and another one from Magnus broadheads. Good luck this Spring, and don't forget the pictures.

The guillitine is a great one for turkeys but you need to make a head/neck shot. The new head from Magnus is similiar to the guillitine but you can take a body shot with it.

I would say if you are accurate with your deer heads, then just stick with those. One key is if at all possible you would like the arrow to stay in the bird making it tough for them to fly away. You could think about lowering your poundage a bit or using something I have used in the past. Its called an adder point (Cabelas has them) Its basically a barbed collar that sits behind your broadhead and creates drag as it goes through the bird increasing theodds it stays in.

Study a turkey vital diagram as they are a little deceiving.

Some Good Turkey Specific heads are the Magnus Bullhead, NAP Gobbler Getter, and Guillotine. I will be using Slick Tricks because they worked great this fall, and no reason they won't work this Spring. NAP GG's was my choice before, and who knows I may load them up again

Any good quality broadhead will do the job. I've taken many, many birds with the same head I used for deer in the same year. It is a good starting point to just use the same head and set up your first season after Turkey. But, a good mechanical is what I have been using the last couple of years. The wider cut and the shock of the energy to open it in the bird seem to be a good combination to pinning them. I like Innerloc EXP's, but NAP Spitfires, Rockets, Wasps, are some other good ones I've had excellent luck with as well.

ABC/Sonic has come out with one that looks pretty good too called the Turkey Tearror. They are also manufacturing the same one for Fuse called the Strut Buster. I may just give them a try this year as well to experiment a little.

I took both my spring KS birds with Rocky Mountain Snypers. Neither bird went more than 30 yards. The Rage would be another great option.
