I agree 100%. Personally, I wouldn't find it appealing to hunt inside a fenced area. It wouldn't matter if indeed it was 10,000 acres, or 20,000 for that matter. High fenced is high fenced. having said that, I still say that those deer are as wild as hell.

Are any of you guys familar with cattle farming operations? The same principlesexist in his ranch. WHICH MEANS IT IS NOTHING MORE THAN FARMING! I have watched a couple episodes but i could never participate in any of this type of 'hunting'. Oh, and 10,000 acres is not giant by any means, not compared to timber leases like my club that range from 60,000- 130,000 acres.

David Morris and his bucks of tecomate makes me sick.I would bet that I put at least150 hours on stand this year and I saw a total of 3 bucks, and only one for more than a split second. Perhaps I am a poor hunter,I can live with that.To see people sitting in these clubhouse stands picking and choosing which monster to shoot is just unrealistic (to me anyway). He is an embarassment to the hunting community in my opinion, an nothing more than a deer farmer.

I have to say that I agree with the majority on this one. I stopped watching the show in question quiteawhile ago. The way the show is produced, at least to me,is nothing more than someonepimpingtheir product andtheir chosen way of life. There is nothing wrong with that per se but an average hunter cannot be expected to follow the same path.
If you folks really have a problem with his show then I would kindly suggest emailing or writing the Outdoor Channel to share your concerns. I did some time ago.

I applaud Pope and Young and Boone and Crockett for their stedfast ways.

I have been confused on this post as trying to stick up for Morris, his show, and his particular situation. Not so, and I made it clear - twice - that I was not interjecting my personal opinion.
So, here goes mine...I do not care if someone chooses to hunt out of a shooting house. I do not care how many, or how big, their food plots are. I do not care if they hunt over bait where legal. I do feel there is a size holding in which it no longer makes a difference in the hunt, though I am not sure what that size is. I don't think that B&C or P&Y needs to do anything they don't want to, because they are private clubs. I also do not let a private club dictate to me what is or isn't "fair chase", "right" or "ethical" because I make my own decisions and feel just fine with them. I do believe that when you start talking about many magnitudes of a normal buck home range...it is not a pen. I might take a hunt given a chance on a big ranch, just depends on the situation. I do not like, or would participate in, any kind of put and take hunt (even for hogs) in a pen. I also don't get the whole deer genetic manipulation thing, cause in most parts of the country, if you let a buck live long enough, and make sure he has enough to eat, he will get big.
So...how does Morris and his show fit into my opinion? I don't know anything about him, his operation, or his beliefs so I choose not to pretend to know, or have an educated opinion.

I would agree 100%. He is the worst on TV, they shouldn't even let him have a show I think it is bad for hunting to show people you should pass on 5 1/2, 6 1/2, 7 1/2 year old bucks because they aren't mature enough. I bet not 2% of the hunting population has the luxury to watch and let bucks grow like that. what fun is it watching a buck for 8 years before you shot him, reall tuff eh. The last show where his wife had to call him to say she had a big buck in front of her and ask him if she should shoot made me sick. What kind of man/hunter tells his hunting companion and wife non the less that he doesn't know he doesn't recognize the buck by here description he would need to see it first and she passes and then he reviews the camera footage and said oh thats a 71/2 year old you should have shot. What a putz. If they want to hunt like that fine but it shouldn't be broadcast Ithink it represents a very poor sample of the sport.

10,000 was a number that I pulled out of the air. I'm sure Morris has more than that. Maybe the Langdale family should start their own "deer farm". God knows they have the land to do so. Is that who owns your clubs land?

And to answer your question, no- a private timber company owns the acreage. They ownover 330,000 acresjust in my county which areleased to 3 major hunting clubs and2-3smaller hunting clubs.
