Very true Hunsucker. How is the second semester going??
Haha, its going goo i suppose...as good as school can go. I got my classes set up so i can turkey hunt every morning. Ill be heading to Nebraska or the Dakotas for a weeek over my spring break...i should still be able to get a lot of hunting in this spring.

I will probaby end up taking off next fall, its just to hard to work, go to school, and hunt all in the fall. No school = plenty of hunting time!

I feel ya, I love the quiet too, but come Nov 17th we have virtually no choice but to hear the hounds roar. It's not so bad though, but I sure understand ya!! Come on down for a bow hunt.

I like hunting anytime. The early season is nice because the deer are very predictable and you can see alot of the same deer. I have a really hard time taking a shot at a deer early though because I love hunting the rut. there is just something about watching all the action that drives me. One minute there isn't a deer in the woods then seconds later,,,,,,,,there is 5 bucks chasing a hot doe all over hell,,,,,GOD, I LOVE THE RUTT!

Honestly.. I feel I have a good chance at any one time of the year. From the moment the season opens til its closing I have a plan of attack.. and can get it done when I get my desired weather conditions.

I hunt the early season (that first 6-7 days) different than I hunt the next 20 days. Then I get into a good pre-rut groove and follow that up with hunting funnels hard as the rut kicks into gear... I am always changing with the season.

As far as seeing real big bucks.. actually I've always seen them the late season. After the rutting activity is about all gone.. you get on a spot where a good food source is bringing in a fair amount of doe's.. one last young doe goes into estrous and BINGO!! A monster of a buck shows up out of thin air.. and your like.. where did he come from?

Ok, I know Im going to catch it on this topic, but it's only from my own experiences... I have seen bigger bucks in the early season more often than in the rut here Va. I feel my chances are better of killing a big buck in early bow season than any other part the season. What about you guys??
