I have been using the same bow for 10yrs now. Never had the need to switch from my 98 Wrangler...it got the job done.

It wasnt until earlier this year (actually 2007) Iupgraded to a new bow...then I kinda went nuts and bought the 3rd, 4th and 5th bow.

Bought a PSE Nova about 5 years ago when I first decided to get into bow hunting. Had it until season ended this year with the only change being a new NAP rest. After dropping 5 deer in those 5 seasons I finally broke down and bought a new Whisper Creek last month. Will probably have this one for another 5.
i must just have a bad bow then, cause i bought mine in teh spring of last year, and it has been the worst bow ever, and its my first too, so PSE gave me a bad tastse in its mouth, i am going to try a bear out this spring.

I had a used Matthews FX that I used for quite a few years. Hardly paid anything for it and shot a lot of animals with it.

Every year new bows would come out with new "bells and whistles" and I thought I was really missing something so in '03 or 04', I took the bait and bought a new Matthews LX.

Spent about a grand on it after all new accessories. Still my current bow.

Does the LX shoot smoother than my old FX? yes, partly because it is a about pound heavier. Not an issue hunting whitetails but it is when elk and mule deer hunting.

Is it more accurate? Not when I shoot it, about the same

Is it faster? A little, but not substantial

Aftershooting it for a few months, I realized that I would have been just as well off with my FX.

I am not knocking it if that is your deal, but I honestly do not understand this obsession some of you guys have to buy a new bow every year.

I like thefamiliarity and memories associatedwith my current bow. It gives me comfort and confidence when hunting. If that sounds corny, then so be it.

In 2000 I decided to get back into archery/bow hunting. I got a PSE Nova and set it up myself. That alone was an experience since things had changed just a little bit since 1979 when I got out of archery. Anyway, I shot everyday and fell in love. Iknew this was no passing fancy anddecided to upgrade to a premium set up. After shooting just about every bow made I settled on the 2001Hoyt Vortech.I know the new bows are faster but it's going to take more than speed to get me to part with it. It is a sweet bow and we work well together.

And Dukester........come talk to me when she hits 117 pairs of shoes. Until then she's little league.
I had to see Matt.. what I found and never knew was that my wife owns 74 pairs of shoes (At least this is what I found)... I guess she isn't so bad after all!

If you're saying your wife Matt owns 117... THAT'S FLIPPIN' CRAZY!!!

And they poke fun at us for buying new camo every other year...HA!

By the way Matt.. my wife says your wife is her idol.

It is nice to see there are quite a few out there that stick with an old trusty friend for bowhunting. When I do decide to upgrade I'll try to find someone who switches frequently and try to pick up a deal.

LOL, no lie bud, and that's whittled down this year after 2 clothes trips to the Salvation Army. What a "down on their luck" person is gonna do with some of those pointy toed monstrosities is beyond me. [:-]
It was much worse at one point in time.
Clothes? we won't even get into clothes.

It all works out in the end because I get away with murder on hunting stuff.

It's a sign of maturity. I've been using the same PSE Nova for 8 years. Killed I think 28 deer with it. Not the fastest thing in the world, but very easy to shoot.

When I was young I thought I had to have something new all the time. Different stereo, different pickup, yada yada. It seems like when you get a little older the flashy advertising doesn't seem to work anymore.

I read people talking about "falling in love" with a bow. Hey, they are nothing but metal and fiberglass. They are just a tool. Something to perform a task. Not to fall in love with. The bow companies have to constantly make some sort of "improvement" each year to try to get hunters to buy the newest model. That's how they make money. You can't blame them, but it's crazy.
