Default Draw weight

What are they talking about on a bow when they say "draw weight"? I thought it ment it takes the amount required to be able to pull the string back but someone told me no. What exactly is it?

Default RE: Draw weight

That is exactly what it is. Lets say your bow is set at 100 lbs and your let off is 80% Your going to have to pull 100lbs until the cams "turn over" then you will only have to hold back 20 lbs.
