Welcome to the forum.
Well, I do bow hunt elk in WA. It is my second year. I didn't get a chance to shoot one on the first year, but I got one on the second. I'm looking forward to this year.

Last year was my first bowhunting elk, I had with a rifle the previous 8 years. Passed on a cow at about 12-15 yards, little did I know she'd be the last elk I'd see. Whooops

I hunt them here in CO with a rifle for 18 years and the last 2 with a bow. I won't give up the bow now <img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>.

Welcome to the boards! Last year was my first year to go after elk. I drew tags in Montana and headed out with a couple of board members. 2 weeks in the mountains and a couple of very close calls, but no shots taken. What a great animal to hunt though. We called in a large bull three times in about 10 minutes and I drew on him twice, but couldn't get a shot through the pines and brush. He was screaming and chuckling up a storm which was incredible. I've never had an animal that vocal, and frankly that pissed off in front of me before.
I'll be in Oregon next year trying to fling an arrow through one.

I do, I do!
I've bow hunted elk in Montana four times since 1998, usually 10 days at a clip. I have a good friend that lives in SW Montana, and we hunt the Gravely Range and the Madison Range on public land.
Lot's of close calls for me, and lots of strange stories, but no elk with a bow yet.
Honestly though, there is nothing like backpacking into the mountains for 10 days and pursuing this great creature.
For the hunt!
