Snort wheeze

Frankly, I wouldn't consider it to be even a one dollar question. To discuss and give and receive opinions and advice on a whole variety of hunting topics is kind of what a hunting forum is all about don't you think? You'vefreely givenus your considered opinionregarding the snort wheeze. Some of us are unimpressed. Those that read the posts can make up their own minds. In the words of the infamous Martha Stewart, "that's a good thing".
Here's the million dollar question: why do you care one way or the other?

On the other hand all these posts where people come on and say "I have been hunting 75 yrs and never heard or seen that" are horse crap. I know a lot of guys who have been hunting a lot of years and cant find their azz with both hands.

To hear a buck make the snort wheeze is not real common. Especially when guys are hunting in areas where the buck/doe ratio is out of wack. If Davidmil says he's never heard it, I believe him. He's got tons of time in the woods and has taken a lot of deer. It's not horse crap, it's the truth.
I hunt in a trophy rich environment and have only heard it a couple of times. I have hunted for mature bucks for 17 seasons and have taken as many bucks 3 1/2 and older. I spend the entire month of Nov, a lot of Oct and Dec as well in this pursuit. So when I say I've only heard it a couple of times, it's not horse crap, it's the truth.
When a guy says he hears it a couple of times per week for most of the season...... That's horse crap.
To be fair it was unknown that the guy was mistaking an alarm snort with the snort wheeze.
Your statement above makes you sound like one of the guys you know that can't find their azz with both hands. That's gospel.

I've hunted deer for exactly 50 years. I've killed over 80 deer with a bow and I have no idea how many with a gun. I have NEVER heard the snort wheeze in the woods. I have seen it on a video from an animal once. I really don't think it's something I'd worry about. I'd rather be very quiet and hunt the wind.
.I haven' been hunting deer long....but I do see a LOT of them (Almost 600 sightings).
I have NEVER heard this call made from a deer. Add me to the list.

Of all the sounds Bucks make, the snort wheeze is the only one I have ever heard that is a show of dominance/anger. They have 3 very distinct ways of showing this. 1.) Posturing/Hair Bristled 2.) Snort Wheeze and 3.) Just outright opening the can 'o whip azz with their horns.
That said, deer are curious at times concerning a fight. They will come to horns rattling at the right time. The question though is whether or not you have 2 dominant Bucks in your area and do they really have a reason to fight or for that matter do they want to fight? Whether over a doe in heat or just to show dominance. I say if I am going to get a chance at a mature Buck, I am not going to take a chance on him already having his butt whipped and my snort wheeze asking him if he wants it again. Duh...
