RE: Snort wheeze
Of all the sounds Bucks make, the snort wheeze is the only one I have ever heard that is a show of dominance/anger. They have 3 very distinct ways of showing this. 1.) Posturing/Hair Bristled 2.) Snort Wheeze and 3.) Just outright opening the can 'o whip azz with their horns.
That said, deer are curious at times concerning a fight. They will come to horns rattling at the right time. The question though is whether or not you have 2 dominant Bucks in your area and do they really have a reason to fight or for that matter do they want to fight? Whether over a doe in heat or just to show dominance. I say if I am going to get a chance at a mature Buck, I am not going to take a chance on him already having his butt whipped and my snort wheeze asking him if he wants it again. Duh...
