So the season ends Friday. Len and I decided to hunt every morning we can. I can't hunt Friday. Anyway, we've had some almost and got busted by the wind a couple times. So this morning we set up about 75 yards apart just for the fun of it up where I saw the 5 bucks last Sat. The wind is wrong again. It shifted to bad once we got 25 feet up. 3 does did come in from up wind. I alerted Len with the radio as he was facing the other direction. He ended up with 2 of them right under him. Then they got a whiff or something and bolted. One stopped at 22 yards and he nailed it. That makes exactly 20 for him for the year. 6 with the muzzleloader/shotgun, 3 with the X-bow, and 11 with his Darton. I've told you he takes no prisoners. He's doing what the landlord wants. Thinning them out big time. He's only shot one or two racked bucks,,,, the rest are does. He doesn't let many pass, but still to take 20 and 11 of them with a compound in the same year is quite a task. We have got the guttin' and draggin' pretty much down to a slash, zip, bang procedure. Me... I'm still at hold on 7..... but I do let a lot walk. I say Len is in charge of herd management.

I thought you were a killing machine, but looks like Len makes you look like an anti!

What do you guys do with all that meat? I don't believe I know enough people to give that much meat away. Not to mention the time and/or cost involved with that much processing. Holy Cow!!

Len has all kinds of folks that want some deer meat. For example, we just picked up a new place to hunt. He had one processed and still had it in his truck when he went hunting there the other day. He got talking with the landowner and he said he'd take some if we had extra. Len handed him a whole deer cut and wrapped for the freezer. I got a guy that wants another(I gave him 2 every year for the last 7 or 8 and one this year).... but he isn't getting it. I shot 7, gave 6 away and now I find myself wishing I had one more in the freezer. So, if I get another it goes in David's freezer... not Chucky's. I process my own. Len does some of both but I think he's in tight with the processor. He also gives away several on the hoof. Chances are I'm going to be on a bowhunting Suburbia deer culling program starting in Feb.... so I guess I got more than Friday to score for the freezer. And hey, if I don't I'll keep one of the crop damage deals in July.
CAJUN: Len shoot the same bow.. well I shoot the same bow he does... Darton Maverick.

I'm not sure. He doesn't even keep track of that. I know he's done both as I've watched from my tree switch hands and shoot when a deer is on the wrong side. We had to sit down and calculate to remember how many were gun/bow. I've seen him sit up there with a release on each hand. Now that's lazy. Doesn't want to have to turn around in the tree.
