What's the advantage of using a crossbow?

I've decided that crossbows should be allowed in deer hunting season, but with their own season.

Why should cross bows have their own season? Would you be ok with Illinois cutting short the bow season to allow cross bows only? What's wrong with allowing them in the archery season?.....Afterall they are "archery tackle".
I'm not picking on archery either, I have the same questions about muzzle loaders. Here in Illinois you can use a muzzle loader during the regular firearm seasons as well ascertain pistols and of course a slug gun.
Cool, it's gun season and you have a choice of different firearms to hunt with. But then there is a muzzle loader only season, Why?.....makes no sense to me at all. To me...it's a firearm so it should be included in the firearm season. Giving muzzle loaders or cross bows their own seasons makes no sense at all.
A crossbow is fairly close to the capabilities of a compound/trad bow as are muzzle loaders close in comparison to slug guns and pistols.
If it were up to me there would be a firearm season and an archery season and hunters would be free to choose what form of firearm or archery tackle they please. (within state regulations) Then everyonewould behappy............Yeah right.

I couldn't shoot a long bow or recurve from there either Germ! Too long and tall of a bow, clear it out and a person could then. I don't let my buddies that shoot compounds clear my spots up in the stand when were putting stands up for bear hunting, they never clear enough away for me because there bows are much shorter then my recurve.
You're right, I hunted from a blind on Saturday, and being I was setup to shoot within 15 yds. A Traditional bow would have been way easier to kill a deer with. Notice I did not say shoot
.You bring up my point, differnet setups favor type of weapon we choose.

So... You spot the deer coming your way, but he's about 60-70 yards out. You draw and go into that holding form. The deer finally gets in position for the shot, you raise the bow up, unhook your thumb, establish your sight picture and release the arrow. Only difference if you were using a crossbow would be that draw - with the deer well out of range and very unlikely to spot the movement - and having to unhook that thumb.
As I said in the other thread, whether or not someone chooses to do that is immaterial. The capability is there.

Another question. How does drawing "in the presence of an animal" differ from drawing when there are no animals around? Don't you practice a slow deliberate draw when you shoot in your back yard? I'm not trying to be a smartarse, I just would like to know.
If my experience is typical, using a crossbow to get into archery will only drive people to go buy a vertical bow later. If my doc would let me, I would be in the bow shop tomorrow.

I have to say that I am really impressed with all the support of the CB. You guys have had a great discussion and it was all done for the most part with Vertical hunters. No hot headed CB guys coming in here trying to defend their right to coexist. I am really impressed with the names I see supporting the use of the CB.

........... Being they have a scope and you don't have to pull these things back, they shouldn't be in the archery class at all or be talked about in the same manner!

What is amazing is that there are 4 scopes here for the COMPOUND .......... ummmmmmmm I think compounds should be put in the gun class because you can put a scope on them.

I personally feel very uncomfortable around a cocked cb.
