Where is your middle ground

let face it. ar's and those regs are put in place simply for bigger antlers. It doesnt matter if a 1.5 or a 5.5 year old breeds a doe, the DNA is still the same. It is nothing more than a money making tool. bigger racks = more money for non resident fees (see illinois). Hunting is supposed to be fun, and a means of putting meat on the table, not a means of playing god with genetics and trying to outdo your buddy, your boss, some guy you've never met but dont like anyways, etc by bagging a buck with bigger antlers. I know for a fact WV would NEVER go to a one buck system. Think of how muhc money they would lose by not selling those $20 a pop extra bow and rifle tags. And I like it that way. I want to be able to shoot what makes me happy. Be it a doe, a 1.5 year old buck, or a 6.5 year old.
If you want to micromanage the herd, go buy your own land or join a club, but dont try and tell me what I should shoot on my own land, if it makes me happy, because if you do, you dont even need to ask if you can hunt with me, because the answer will be a resounding NO!.

Ohio has a one buck rule and then more doe tags. We have a smaller heard in general and have been taking some real trophy's here. Only allowing one buck is also a way we try to balance out the does.

Not sure I exactly understand the question.
I believe in keeping overall numbers in line with what the habitat can support. I don't believe deer should be managed with over inflated numbers just so hunters see deer. I DO however like restrictions that allow bucks to get older in age class. I wish hunter attitudes were such that they weren't needed, but in many places such is not the case. NO one has issues with fish needing to be a certain size, but man do they go nuts when you want to apply it to bucks.

I voted for 1, as 1, 3 and 4 are already in place in PA and I can live with them.
2 isn't practical as we don't have a doe problem in most areas anymore.

There is not one solution that will work for every location. That is why we have so many different rules in the first place. The deer densities have a lot to do with the way states set up their laws. Also what type of hunting do you want. Do you want trophy hunting or do you want to see large numbers of deer every time out in the woods. The harvest rules can dictate what your herd looks like to a certain extent, and what the land can handle.
This one is complicated to answer, and one answer will not work for all situations.

Can I shoot a doe with my CrossBow
I vote to let deer bioligist do their jobs
Coming from a two buck state, I can tell you it fails on many levels for shooting does.
MI is only state in the Midwest where we shoot more bucks than does(63% bucks and 37% antlerlessand this is jsut gun season 2007).
The DNR has a goal in our state to reduce the herd, right now are tag system will not allow that to happen. No fault of the hunters, we are just tools of the DNR. When you give a guy a mulligan buck tag, your state will shoot more bucks than does.
With shrinking numbers in our state, I would like to see the combo go to 1 buck 1 doe any weapon. Have doe permits were needed. Until we take the second bucktag out of the hands of our hunters, we will keep failing to meet MI dnr harvest goals for does.
Right now Jackson County is 116% over goal for DPSM, SLP only two DMU are at or under goal. One of them is mine
