A harmless question..........and NOTHING in all my PM's with buckeye would have me think he was implying I did something wrong.........and bloodcreek was my captain Rob......he is the one that asked me to post a score which I said I would and told him it wouldn't be the NY buck though.........he was happy as a teammate and captain. You came right out and said "If your NY buck was bigger which would we see?" Night and day to anyone else's statements..........and again I question why you felt the need to speak up in MY thread but no others........in AE's thread you had nothing but glowing comments and said you "couldn't wait" to enter his score........strikingly different then how you addressed my case...........thus my hypocrisy/double standard outlook.
One thing I do know, if we are called for duty atlas, and lets hope that never happens, I want to be in your squardren, troop or whatever we want to call it cuase you'd have them laying down their arms after you told them how wrong it is to shoot at us...LOL

Maybe they don't have the time to hunt you do, So now pounding little bucks in Pa is shooting legal 6 and 8 pts? What will be the next little bucks people don't want shot 110-124 inchers because they don't make P&Y?

He was stating they have no patience so they just shoot little bucks. Well in Pa they have antler restrictions and he still not happy with waht they are shootin Greg.
Maybe not Greg but I'm sure you'll see "why did you shoot that 8 pt he's only 3.5 yrs old should have let him go to 5.5.
I agree with that to a point.
I just don't want to see us push people out of hunting because they like to go out and hang out with their buddies and shoot a deer and they don't really care if it's book buck.
Because what I se happening is people putting down these guy's and saying there aren't any big ones because of the guy shooting them when they are young.
If our numbers continue to decline things will get interesting.
As far as what is next, don't get carried away. No one is going to push for legislation to micro manage bucks by the inch
When hunting for mature bucks, the main ingredient is time.

In my neck of the woods I have seen and heard this many, many times.
They are mostly all happy with the bucks that they shot otherwise it would have made no sense for them to shoot it.
I also get a bit frustrated from sitting 4+ days without seeing a single deer.... but hey, that's hunting. I keep trying.
For the most part, the guys that complain about not seeing any big ones and then shooting a small one, are gun only hunters ( I gun hunt also), there are a few bow hunters like this as well. Usually, these are the guys that don't have but a day or two to hunt, they know nothing about the deer they hunt or their behaviors. They seem to want to go out for about an hour and shoot a 150, like it's that easy.
There are many reasons for this mentality, like arm chair quarterbacks.
No time, just want to go out, see a big buck and shoot it.
If I don't shoot it someone else will.
The drive to hunt and see big bucks isn't there. There are more....
You can explain to these people what it takes to have and see more mature bucks, but whether they do something about it is up to them.
It's the same with any aspect of life, there are those that want success but find it easier to accept mediocrity and complain about it.
Those that work at it to try and succeed.
Those that can't change their situation through no fault of their own. These people may have the right to complain.

I just have not ever seen someone say they wish there were better bucks out there and keep shooting little ones. The guys that drill small bucks are very happyto do just thatfrom what I have seen.............theyget miffed when they sit for 4 days straight without seeing a single deer but that is another story.

I have absolutely zero problem with this viewpoint greg..........matter of fact I would say the same thing if I ran into guys complaining about no big bucks but shooting all the little ones..........it's just that I don't see that around here and I never have. Honestly, guys around here are very content knowing a big one could stroll by once in a blue moon and that makes it so very special...........feeling like that years lottery winner LOL. The DEC took a survey of NY hunters in 2006 and found them to be satisfied with the number andsize of the bucks they see............pretty much spot on with the attitude I hear from the overwhelming majority of guys in the field.
No one around herehas any illusions that NY is Kansas.........nor do they complain it isn't.........we just get in ourtrucks and drive to Kansas ifthat's what we want.

I just don't like to hear the complaints about not shooting a bigger buck from someone that shoots a 1.5 year old buck.
In the last few years I have been seeing older and better bucks, honestly think it's because there are less people in the woods. Maybe it's not such a bad thing.
It might also be because people are voluntarily letting smaller bucks walk. I don't ahve a problem with NY keeping it voluntary.Would I like to see big bucks ever few times out instead of a couple season sure would, but not at the expense of loosing hunters and the revenue they bring in for conservation.
How many fewer licenses were sold in Pa. this year? I know it was down for NY which will cost us millions toward conservation.

There will never be an answer that satisifies PA hunters as a whole. Well not that one that would work for the animals, the enviroment and public. I fear it's a never ending debate.
