Default Somewhat Bowhunting related....Cameras

Lisa recently lost our small camera (the one I take hunting), so I had to make a trip to Office Depot, today.

Maybe I've been out of the loop.....but I just bought a Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-W90 for $219 @ Office Depot. It's the smallest little thing....and it's an 8.1MP camera with a 3X digital zoom. (I think it was on sale something like $40 off).

Just a heads up.....if you're in the market. Small enough to stick in a breast pocket. 8.1MP is nothing to sneeze at......and I think I paid twice that for the one she lost....lol.

Maybe I've just been out of the loop....but I thought the prices out there, now, were fantastic.

Good advice, I need a new one.. Our "State of the Art" camera is now laugh-able as it's 5 years old!

I like a camera with a lot of optical zoom for hunting and outdoor purposes. The one I have is 8x optical and 5.1 mp. Works great.

Greg:

My Cannon has an 11x optical zoom.....and EVERY time I try to take "wildlife" photos with it....they come out blurry. (when I try to zoom way in)

Why is that?[:@]

Here's what they look like.....

the fuzziness is usually caused by either low light or you were into the digital zoom realm. It's not small enough to fit in a pocket buy I always carry my fuji finepix S5000. Highest quality photo is 6M but when its set on that quality you can zoom in without losing photo quality.

It could be too much movement on your part, tripod would fix.

or

Camera left in auto focus and is focusing on something other than the subject.

or

You are accidentally mixing up the terms optical vs digital zoom.

That photo was taken with a CAnon Powershot Pro 1. It was very low light (early morning scouting). But....almost any time I get into the digital zoom.....it's like that.

I think I'm gonna be better off to take photos from the field in very high res. (5mp?) and use a software program to crop and zoom what I'm trying to show.

Anyone?

Maybe I am????

I know on the Canon....I can turn the lens (Optical)? But....once it gets to a certain point....it goes past a threshold and keeps zooming (Digital?).

I never set the Canon on Auto focus. I always wait for a green light!

Digital zoom starts distorting the pixels.

Usually the green light or brackets indicates auto focus.
