Fair enough Bruce... So take it one step further... If everybody here is just "wishing" that their fellow hunters succeed - but they're not actually doing anything about it (Let's just pretend that they COULD if they WANTED TO)...

Then are they really being "supportive?" Or are they just sitting back on their heels while everybody else drowns in failure?

In my world view: You're either helping somebody, or you're not. If you're not, just be a big boy and be prepared to admit that you're not.

Well, I suppose in your world view that everyone would post maps of where they see every rub and scrape, every buck group sighting, every animal they see and every animal they shoot and evryone could hunt on evryone else's property. And they would post these maps on the "map wall" at every pro shop in every town. Nice fantasy, but it hardly makes your point.

But what we do when leaving public property and meeting other hunters is tell them what we saw, where and when we saw it. They have done the same for us. Hunters we didn't know, sharing information with each other to be "supportive" of each other. We help when the opportunity presents itself. I would consider that being "supportive".

Bruce you could do that, post the maps etc... but if you didn't go a pick them up and drive them to that spot, take them by the hand and show them each and every scrape and rub, your a hypocrite! :D

Apparently, admitting that you're not as helpful as you think you are (or could be)...is hard for some people.

Actually, a list is not needed. By not actually going out and knocking on doors and finding strangers that want to go hunting in your spot you are being an unsupportive hypcrite. Either the whole world is on your list or its not. Come on, get with the program.

You know that and I know that but lets not let Fran know that because we both know that you told me that I had to bring my own dog. You could have been a little more supportive if you really wanted to help me out.;)

Bruce: That would be the "I hope they tag out" portion of the answer...

Pair thatwith the fact that there are hordes of hunters out there fruitlessly laboring and wasting their time in the woods, with no hope of ever getting anything.

Do you really "hope they tag out" if you know you could easily takea little initiativeand put a deer in front ofa total stranger- but you choose to just do nothing?

Well Germ, at least you still have your land. In order to be fully supportive of my fellow gun hunters, I just signed mine over to the kid from Maryland that was looking for a place to hunt. But he is now being condemned for not posting the GPS coordinates to the land for everyone in New jersey that doesn't have a place to hunt.

I have told strangers I just met (after intro's we weren't strangers anymore, does that still count LOL?)in the parking lot of the public hunting grounds about the spots I go to, shown them on the map. Don't know if they got a deer as I haven't ever seen them again. Granted, I didn't show the initiative of posting the maps at the pro shop but I thought I showed a little initiative ;).

Well, anytime Lanse is involved in the discussion - it surely can't have anything to do with actually getting a deer... That leaves:

To the contrary, I've pretty much shot down everything you said in a thread that relates to differing attitudes toward getting deer. You might want to try your luck with anger or nonsense, but there has been plenty of that here. So, that leaves politics:eek:

RE: Bowhunters - do you root against the gunners?

ORIGINAL: Badger_Girl93

My point is..... that you probably still wish the poor and hungry kids in your community all the best. You hope they are happy and don't starve and have a fun Christmas. But there is a line you draw...you can't help them all. Just because you draw a line does not make you a hypocrite. You genuinely wish them the best and you support them...you just aren't willing to open your doors to eveyone. Nothing wrong or hypocritical about that.

The same is true when it comes to supporting fellow hunters. It is possible to wish them all the best and support them, without being a hypocriteif you don't allow the masses to hunt in your stand. I think there is somesimilarity there.
Here we are at page 19 or 20 of a thread full of posts fromgrown "educated"men, and it's a young lady, still in school who makes the best point.

No, you don't HAVE to give up your best hunting spot or allow everyone and their brother on your land to be truly supportive of your fellow hunters or to"root" for them.

I would like to see everyone who enters the woods come out feeling satisfied with their days hunt, gun or bow hunter. If that meant killing a slammer or a dink or a doe so be it. Even if they didn't kill anything at all but just enjoyed another day on this wonderful planet. I'm Happy for them and I wish them all the luck. Just because I don't open my doors or my land to each and everyone of them doesn't make me a hypocrite.

The problem (as I see it) is folks put way too much importance on deer hunting and lose sight of the big picture......it's supposed to be fun!!

I've said it before but it bears repeating. NOBODY on this forum NEEDS to hunt to live, if you did you have no business spending money on Internet access, computers, cameras, etc.... We ALL do this for fun. No matter how you try to dissect it or spin it we do this for our recreation.

If you can't have good will for another person trying to enjoy the same pastime as you....you've got your priorities screwed up and major problems.

My post is not directed to anyone in particular, I'm just stating what I feel.

If deer mean THAT much to you that you can't be happy for another hunter, I feel sorry for you......I truly do.

No I don't root against "gunners" I'm one of them too....I don't "root" against anyone trying to enjoy themselves, it would make me a shallow, close minded, bottom feeding, troll of an individual. It's not how I want to live my life and it's not how I'm raising my children.
