Make sure however you build it that it can be secured tightly!! Nothing like a good solid locking doors ect. Might not be as important for a bow only owner but if you do own guns security from children and theives is always the way to go. Heck you probably have a stack of bows worth more than my guns anyway!
Not even my wife can get into my gun room. Just no need and she doesn't care. Nothing like Man Town!!

Ther are a lot of different wall paper murals you could do. Here is mine. And I have a vinyl floor that looks like real wood. Make sure and have plenty of lights, basements are really dark. I would really love to have a fireplace or stove in mine too. I may check into that later.

Another wall.

I would Go with a run of the mill 3/8 drywall ceiling... if you need help come pick me up drywall is my specialty. A place for a couch would be pretty good and a wet bar too. good luck lets see some pics of the room now. for a good before/after deal

Go with Can lights... those recessed lights, and run them on a dimmer switch, the are about 30 bucks a pop but very well worth the investment. Just some recomendations i have is lenolium for your floor and some type of heating system weather it be a small electric heater or something like that.

Hell no you ain't seeing it now....lol. Imagine block walls with a treadmill, workout center, HWH, Water purification system, TV loveseat, etc........along with LOTS Of Mrs. GMMAT's JUNK!
I'm also buying a floor safe for this room......and I didn't budget for that. Just gonna do it.
I'd love to go with a drywall ceiling....but I'm afraid the seaming would be really evident. I'm going to condition the air in the room.....but I know it'll be thermally different than the upstairs. It's ALWAYS cooler down there. Anyways.....I'd love to save the money and do the drywall ceiling.....if I thought it could work out in the long run.
I'll take plenty of "before & after" photos, though.

I hear ya, John.
Yep......big Red Sox fan from Freddy Lynn days. Favorite of all time was Dwight Evans.
I'll have a Red Sox Fathead on one wall.....but they're sold out of the Jackie Bushman Fatheads.

You mentioned colum covers, here is one idea, this is in my upstairs man room looking down into the great room, just pine 1"x6" boxed to look barn style with gussets. a buddy of mine used directional can lights above his mounts to light them up along with a dimmer,it looks great.

I built a shelf out of rough sawn oak, unstained just natural, and some homemade brackets out of flat steel painted flat black, the black smith look
Great for sheds and what nots. Tv cabinet is home made as well, im a tight wad [8D]

As John mentioned, if your doing surround sound, run speaker wire in the walls before dry walling unless you go wire less , i need to camo my speakerssome how, they look out of place.
burbour keeps the floor toasty and comfy.
I still want to add some rough sawn cedar to the two mount walls ,but hey it takes money and i aint got it right now
