where do you gut your deer
#31
in my father in law's driveway. No really, usually where it falls unless its right on a trail, and only then because I don't want deer to have to step around it, thus putting them off-trail. deer see and smell dead stuff all the time, and there are no wolves im my area yet, so I'm not worried about having to avoid them if I hunt the next day.

I have a hard enough time dragging a gutted deer, much less a whole one. I generally gut them where they fall.
I think the coyote activity around a gutpile scares the deer more than the gutpile itself.

Depends on how far I have to drag. If it's not too far (less than a couple hundred yards, more or less depending on if I have help) I'd rather drag whole and gut from a gambrel so that dirt and leaves don't get inside. Otherwise I gut near where he fell.
