Smartwool vs. UnderArmour socks?

Where do you all buy the smartwool socks! After a motorcycle wreck (yrs ago) They borrowed a vein from one leg to put in damaged leg. Now I have two main veins in each leg instead of three. Feet get cold easy....just been wearing tubesocks and toastie toes. There not bulky and put them in between tubesocks and heavy socks.
seems to be working pretty good, they don't get overly hot either. Would like to try the smartwool though!

In terms of socks, I'd look into merino socks - therefore, SmartWool in this case.
However, if you're on a budget, there are quite a few discount packs you can get (as merino wool can be pricey). Personally, I've tried lots of brands including Smartwool, Icebreaker. Currently my favourite is Darn Tough (Vermont made, lifetime guarantee). I've also made a list of my favourite merino wool socks if you're interested.

Anyone here try heavy alpaca socks? I've heard they are all the rage but will they work for a stand hunter. I have many kinds and brands of socks in my quest for warm feet and none have worked, thus my interest in alpaca socks.
