I look for them all the time, Sometimes which can be a distraction in hunting season!

Naw, from Jan to June is my favorite time but this 07hunting season alone I have found 7 now.. I am always looking for them just out of habit. I know when Hiawatha was down here elk hunting we werehustling along an elktrail and something caught my eye..he just laughed as I dug a little dead bucks head out of the tall grass... Same thing happened to me when Bowhnt and Ryan were out here elk hunting. I am taking Mike..J to a spot to call for elk and....WHOOOOOP theres a bone in the brush...a nice 4x whitetailside.. I have no idea how I saw it, I just did...J found two while out here elk hunting to..when he was here and hes a hardcore shed hunter..again, he's looking forthem... even while hunting..

I think you have to be looking for them to find them.. they are easy to walk past if your focused on looking for deer.. or other game..

The little ones are the hardest to see..

Where are some good locations to look for sheds at? I have been told fence rows. Are there any others hot spots?

My grandma found one in the middle of the 4 wheeler trail about the beginning of november this year. It must of broke off but there was no evidence of fighting. Looked like half of a 2.5 year old 8 point.

Oh Oh! Your in trouble now! He's a good kid by the sounds of it, we'll keep a good eye on him! Places i've had good luck finding sheds are where deer tend to group up around where i live. Otherwise fence lines, small creeks where they gotta jump across.

When is the optimal time frame for finding monster sheds.
Well, I believe you got a nice 8 point, yes? Those don't count for sheds, by the way.....

I'm thinking the BEST time to find them is after they..........Shed them???

No, seriously.....start looking in February, but the last couple of years I've seen bucks w/ headgear into March.....I look pretty hard during March and April, but.....I've never found any so I'm not sure you should listen to me anyway....

Best time for picking up monster shed would be... When you can talk a huntin-holic uncle into taking you to a farmer's place that has problems with sheds getting in his tires around the end of Feb - March. Got any uncles like that ?? Granted you might have to listen to his old hunting stories again and again but them monster sheds are worth it !! [8D]
