Default buck fever got the best of me today long

Well after about six hunts three in the middle of oct. three last week

I went out this morning it was 60 when I went out and was to be 65 so I thought the temp increase and low wind would make for a good hunt

I got out 30 mins beforethe sun started up. About time it started getting light I saw two deer a doe and a buck nice size in a field 70 yards in front of me. 20 or 30 mins later I saw 5 more deer in the field.
While I was watching them a big doe properly 150 pounds and I mean big came in around my right side.
Just like the doe on opening dayI reach for my bow clipped my release

When I clipped my release she looked at me I froze. She went back to messing around walked around and quartering away. I draw and set my 20 yard pin right on her kill zone. I never had the shakes as bad as that moment. I steadied and let the arrow go. She ran about 30 yard up stopped stumped around looked back at me. I thought she is going to drop after running 30 yards toward my truck. I thought great 30 less yards I got to drag her. She started walking fast not quit running toward the field away from me and my truck I did not care though.
She got in the field a buck ran up to her and she ran off again walking fast but not running went in a 20 yard wide wood strip and did not go out the other side.

I am thinking I finally got oneand a big doe I could have cared less that it was not a buck.

When she ran the first time I let of a call on my primos can and could not use it because I was shaking and it was not sounding right so I quit.
I set there for an hour and when all thedeer had gone I get down.
Walk to be my arrow no blood no arrow just like the doe I shot over the first day. I found the arrow right under were she stood sticking about4 inches in the dirt angling slightly up which saved my fetches so that was good. I new since there was no blood on the arrow I missed. I wonted to cry go get on my stand and jump off.

But I did not loll I got back up and stayed for another hour then left

I felt better missing a big doe then I did last week when I saw nothing for three days. I was wondering were the rut was but after seeing 12 to 15 deer to day having the miss and having a small 4 point come right down the trail I came down with out smelling me which means my scent control is working. He walked off 10 yards out of my shooting area to the left. But I can not shot buck on the land anyway. So I would nothave shot him and he was too little

I am not to upset I missed at least I wont be to shaky next time I hope

Sorry this is so long but wonted to make sure I told you guys everything so you can tell me if I did everything wrong.

Also I had been using a Dom buck cheap urine and code blue doe estrus and I did not use either today to see if that’s why I was not seeing anything and I saw 15 deer so I think I might stay away from the urine scents for a spell to see if it is why
If you shoot and miss a deer and it is the only one that spooks how long will you stay in the woods or will you leave

Doe fever exists, too. Believe me I've had it!

Stick with it. Just remember to pick a spot and follow through.

Happens to everybody usually at least once. You can practice getting yourself worked up, with all your gear on, and then just take 1 arrow shot at the target, really pretend it is a deer, and make it count!

Don't worry it gets easier, get a few deer under your belt you'll calm down a little bit, but you'll always get excited, I think we all get used to being excited.

Also you can concentrate on picking the exact hair that you will shoot at, really focus in, focus on your mechanics. (ie squeeze trigger, don't snap, don't move fast, etc) While you are sitting there waiting for a deer go through every angle that a deer will come in from, and plan out where you must have the bow drawn back, and where you intend to shoot. The idea is to be prepared, so that when a deer comes in, you are thinking ok, I will draw back at that tree, plan on shooting at the opening 10 ft in front, etc to get your mind on business, and off of "holymoly a deer is here!"

Now get back out there!
