I just walked in the door from Illinois. It was slow all week! there was some chasing, but mostly by younger buck. My friend did have a run in with a 160 class deer on 2 occassions, but he wasnt chasing. My other friend is there now for the next week. hopefully he will have better luck!

Up until tonight I only saw young bucks chasing, but tonight there were quite a fewmature bucks chasing and cruising. It's a good time to be alive!!

Driving home from Ottawa last night we saw no less than 4 big bucks running in the cut-cornfields. I thought I saw one more, but it was too dark to tell by then. The smaller/younger bucks have been moving around for 2 weeks now.

Anyone hunt around springfield area?

it is just gettingcranking here in west central IL, saw bucks chasing this morning. Lot of deer movement and the bruisers are coming out of hiding, saw about a 130 and 150 this morning around the ladies!! All day hunts planned for the weekend!!

From what I have seen here in Iowa I do believe the pre rut is going strong but haven't seen enough evidence that the actual rut is going yet. The big boys are starting to cruise though but just looking not really chasing.

Its startin in western IN and I cant wait to get out this weekend. I saw a small 5 pointer chasin a couple does last night. Drew back on him and a doe. This is what it's all about...

looking is the best time to kill em, when they start chasing full bore its simply luck! thats why its on right now, saw plenty of evidence this mornin',but i will take em either way,chasin' or lookin'!
