I made 5 mock scrapes Monday afternoon walking into my stand. 2 hours later had a wide 6pt come in to my Can Call. He demolished the overhanging branches..and pissed in every mock scrape. I sprayed doe piss in them...made them by simply kicking away the leaves (rubber boots) and braking a few branches with my hands (no gloves even!).
I've had GREAT luck hunting over mock scrapes.

I used that trick last year, and had some interest in it.....from year and a half olds and younger.....I also don't think the scrape brought them in.
I set up in travel corridors, and use the scrape as a point of interest......In other words, I use the scrape as the distracting agent I need to kill the deer. Buck walks to scrape. Buck buries nose in scrape. Buck gets arrow through the lungs....
That's the PLAN, anyway..............

That's exactly what I do mobow. If I can, I set that as yardage markers too. It doesn't usually bring them in, but when they do come by, they're almost always burying their nose in the dirt.

Mock scrapes are just about as efective as real scrapes if you don't contaminate them with your
human scents. I use a #1 doe pee or something NON estrus early in the scape period. I also use
interdigital buck scent for the scrape. Use a stick or rubber boot to clear the circle. In fact, only
clear a v shape not round area pointing in the direction you think the deer are moving. Lightly
spray the scrape and barely even touch the overhanging branches with the interdigital. Let them
make the scents for the next deer. This should get enough attention for them to come in and check it out.

I am in Louisiana and will start sometime around beginning of december. Should peek about mid month when the rut will start and then abandon them and hunt the does. the bucks won't be far behind.
