Illinois Rut

From what I saw this weekend the bucks should really be getting worked up in the next week or so. We saw several smaller bucks pestering some does and a couple nice mature bucks poking their heads out. My vacation starts after I get off work Thursday the 1st and I dont have to be back to work until the 12th. Is anyone else hunting Illinois that week. If so where at.

Saw quite a bit rutting action this weekend. Using a doe decoy and rattling a little.I had 4 different bucks come into it. One small 6 tried to hump it, a 8 and a 9 got into a full blown brawl in front of it, and a real nice 10 was chasing a doe, and then came into the decoy later that morning. Have rattled in 7 bucks in my last 3 outings.
Also alot of scrapes showing up too. My vacation starts the 3 and I get to hunt the 3,5,7,9,10,11. I might sneak out on the 4th for a morning hunt, but I have to golf in a benefit golf tournament later that day.

Sounds pretty good buck hunter. I did hear my first buck roar sunday morning. It was just starting to get light and I heard a buck roar and then break into a snort weeze and I could hear it chasing what I assume to be a smaller buck away. It was pretty neat unfortunately it was still pretty dark and wasnt much I could do. I do plan to do some rattling and decoying this weekend, hopefuly things work out.
