Default Interested in a craddle style rest

I hate when the arrow falls of the rest when I'm on stand.I was wondering if I could get pointers on some of these style rests. I do not like the whisker biscuit but was thinking about the shoot out or something like that. Some times I hold my bow on my lap when hunting and it sucks to have to hold the arrow also.Any expirience with these?

I'd say go w/ the whisker bisquit. How do you know if you dont like it? Have you used it?

I would highly recommend the READYREST. It is a full containment rest that holds the arrow solid in any position. My needs were the same as yours as I often have long stalks to get to my deer.

This rest is easy to adjust, easy to paper tune, and is completely silent! It also improved my accuracy, and increased my bow speed (although only 2 ft/sec). With only 2 adjustments, I achieved perfect bullet holes in the paper.

I was leaning towards a fall-away rest, but needed my arrows to be held solid during stalks that often include crawling on my knees and stomach. So far, it has passed every field test for me.

You can take a look at their product at www.readyrest.net

That rest looks sweet. Does it come in black? Does the wheels stick or anything when wet and cold? Is it heavy? Thanks for the link, looks like a have to rest for me.

AND.... don't overlook the one that all others wish they could be like... "The Muzzy Zero Effect". It was the first of the modern fall aways. It's still at the head of the class. Tough, durable and always there when you draw. A little more costly than some of the others,... but you'll never regret it.

David, how could I forget the muzzy there is only about 5000 posts about it, but I shoot the Legacy and it won't work. It also will not hold the arrow when the bow is on my lap. And if it does there is still movement in the arrow to make noise.

NEWSHOOTER,
I think they do have it in black. It is not heavy, it is a very compact unit. The guy who designed it is a machinist, and it is designed with very close tolerances. Before I bought mine, I went to Loveland, CO and visited them. They told me of all they have sold, noone has had to replace the rollers or o-rings yet. Some have ordered replacement rollers and o-rings, but haven't actually had to replace them yet. One thing I HAVE noticed, is that you can only use 4" vanes. If you were to use bigger vanes, they would not clear the rest frame. When I visited them, they said they are adding a new model that has a bigger diameter to allow clearance of 5" vanes. I use 4" vanes with 2 degree offset, and they work great. I use 28" carbon arrows with 29" draw, 4-blade 100 grain muzzys. These arrows shoot straight with no fishtail or bobble - - that was the bottom line for me...consistent smooth arrow flight. The most important thing is to paper tune the rest in order to get this kind of arrow flight. It was easy with my bowtech patriot.

Muzzy. There are a lot(muzzy) of great rests out there(muzzy). That hold(muzzy) the arrow in place as(muzzy)well as offer(muzzy) superior vane clearance and (muzzy) are extremely accurate(muzzy). I'm not partial to(muzzy) any one brand(muzzy);GKF (muzzy) makes some great ones(muzzy) but I use the (muzzy) Muzzy Zero Effect and Love it...(muzzymuzzymuzzy)!HINT HINT WINK WINK!

Don't overlook Bodoodle rests! They cradle the arrows nicely with good flight too.

I am not sold on the drop away rests just yet. I personally don't want cables attaching to my slider or any such thing. Too many things can happen in my opinion. I like to keep it simple.

I am sold on the "fall away" rests, and the MUZZY Zero Effect is the best out there. Unless you are hanging upside down from your treestand the arrow isn't coming off your rest. However, if you are hanging upside down from your treestand, you have other things to worry about than your arrow falling off your rest. Do yourself a favor and go check out a MUZZY ZE rest. You won't be sorry you did.
