British NBC suit , scent lock ?
#1
Hi Fella's , i was wondering ... do you think the British Army issue NBC suit would work as scent lock , its lined with charcoal similar to the scent lok stuff and comes in DPM ( disruptive pattern material ) . What do you think ?

When I tried using carbon suits a few years back this was the exact ones I used, and deer came very close without spooking at first. The effect was temporary though, so I gave up using them, they're too much trouble to wash because of the loose carbon in them. Now I just use HS Scent-A-Way green bodywash and a baking soda/peroxide based scent killer spray, and I seem to get about the same results. You can find a recipe for the scent killer in these forums if you do a search, though I'm certain the stores in your country probably carry them. Best of luck.

From the UK aye. You guys sure do have some screwed up hunting over there. Just kills me since I've read a lot of your history. If any place should be king in archery hunting it should be you. Such a rich history of archery over there. Some day I will shoot a yew bow.
My folks left Ireland and spent some time in Notingham before making there way to the states. Don't know if they ever took up the bow and arrow but this Finn has.
As to your question stuff is only temporary Like kevin said. Ya know the dollar is not doing well against yours so you should be able to do pretty well buying something here.

Ive thought about importing some kit for next year from the States , just not sure what to get . So many camo patterns , i don't know where to start . I like the predator stuff , but its colour choice then . You guys get it soooo good .
I cannot believe myself that we are not allowed to hunt with bow , a country that bred the finest archers in the world and used the bow so much to hunt . It just does not make sense , but rules are there to be broken maybe ( rabbit maybe ) ? . I would love to hunt a Red deer stag on my uncles ground , there is a herd of about thirty red deer on their at the moment ... all wild . I have a friend who is a game keeper in Scotland , and some of the stags he looks after on the moors are amazing . will put some pics up V soon .
In the meantime i better get lookin on the net for this scent lok camo , any recommendations .

i have used these suits in the past with good luck.... after every hunt i would store it in some sort of scent free bag or container... i have gotten away from them because they are a bit bulky..... and hot.... (south texas).... but i would never wash them and try to reuse.... when they "fill up" just toss them out .....

ScentLok won't work any better than that NBC suit you asked about, in fact it has significantly less carbon, you'd be better served either buying the NBC suit or just finding a scent control scheme that works for you. If you buy the NBC suit you'll need to treat the outside of it with scent killer to get the "factory smell" out before use, then hang outside to air dry.
Scent killer spray is basically as simple as:
one box of baking soda
one pint of hydrogen peroxide
one ounce of unscented hunter's shampoo
a gallon of spring or other unchlorinated water, adjust amount to accomodate the other ingredients.
Mix the baking soda into the water, shake until the soda is completely dissolved. Add the peroxide and shampoo and stir thoroughly. Leave the cap slightly open so that excess gasses can escape for about 2-3 days, then use as needed. Shampoo can be omitted if unavailable.

Those suits are the exact ones I use, army surplus, get them for 18$....however as already stated, entire scent control is much better.
I only wear them at the stand, i carry them to/from stand. the carbon rubs off pretty fast under even walking motions. If you dont move too much while wearing them they will last a while...a full season anyway, maybe 40-60 hunts.
